**Overview**An Application Systems Engineer plays a critical role in the development, implementation and integration of software applications and systems. They contribute to the success of projects by designing efficient solutions, ensuring system performance, and providing technical support to stakeholders.

The lead role performs project management and work prioritization and assignment functions. The core duties of this role include work of the same or similar nature of teammates.

**Responsibilities*** 1\. Collaborate with cross\-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements for software applications and systems. 2\.

Design, develop and configure software solutions to meet customer needs. 3\. Implement and test commercial (off\-the\-shelf) and custom developed software applications and systems, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards.

4\. Collaborate with other IT/IS teams as required. 5\.

Maintain and support applications and systems including problem investigation, issue resolution and performing system updates/upgrades. 6\. Provide technical support to stakeholders, assisting with system integration and troubleshooting.

7\. Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements, identifying opportunities to improve existing systems or develop new ones. 8\.

Conduct system performance analysis and optimization to enhance efficiency and reliability. 9\. Create technical documentation, including user manuals and guides.

10\. Lead the evaluation and make recommendations for third\-party software components, tools and technologies. 11\.

Act as project manager and collaborate with project team members to ensure timely and successful project delivery. 12\. Act as the primary mentor and provide training and guidance to other team members on software applications and systems.

Develops and maintains the training curriculum for new team members. 13\. Manages single\-person or group projects of any size from inception through completion including development, execution, and monitoring of the work plan.

This will require the monitoring and support of individuals daily work assignments and maintaining a project schedule that ensures cross coverage.

**Qualifications*** + Application Systems Engineer \- Senior at Dartmouth Health for a minimum of two (2\) years OR a minimum of eight (8\) years of relevant experience

+ Experience with, formal training for, or ongoing mentoring around supervising work for a team

+ Familiarity with software development methodologies and practices.

+ Experience with system integration and troubleshooting.

+ Excellent problem\-solving and analytical skills.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
