The D. E. Shaw group seeks a full stack engineer to join our Generative AI (GAI) Services team.
This team develops and supports platforms and applications that enable GAI capabilities across the firm, with a focus on building user\-facing tools and robust APIs. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a range of technical and business groups, shaping impactful AI\-driven solutions in a dynamic environment.
**What you’ll do day\-to\-day**

- Design and implement web applications and interfaces that make GAI tools accessible and effective for users across the firm.
- Develop and maintain APIs and backend services that power GAI applications and integrate with internal systems.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into high\-quality, user\-centric solutions.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and architecture through deployment and ongoing improvement.
- Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and team initiatives to enhance engineering practices and product quality.
**What we’re looking for**

- A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in building web applications, including experience with modern UI frameworks and front\-end technologies.
- Experience designing and developing APIs and backend services in a production environment.
- Interest in generative AI technologies and a collaborative, pragmatic approach to problem\-solving.
- Excellent communication, self\-management, and organizational skills with a client\-service mindset and the ability to build successful relationships within the department and across the firm.
- The expected annual base salary for this position is $225,000 to $325,000\. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year\-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
