About this role

WHO WE ARE

Come join the company at the center of how the world adopts AI securely. Cyera’s mission is to give enterprises the confidence to embrace AI safely — deciding exactly what it can see and do as it reaches deeper into the business. We started by solving the hardest problem in data security: finding and securing data faster and more precisely than anyone thought possible.

That foundation is now the essential AI trust infrastructure for the Fortune 1000. We’re hiring mission-driven talent to put those leaders at the center of our story.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our team as the Security Engineering Team Lead. You will lead the engineers who build the platforms our security program runs on, set technical direction, and own the architecture and roadmap for log pipelines and SIEM, detection and automation, AWS security, SaaS security, AI security, and security tooling.

You will partner closely with the Security Operations Team Lead so that what operations needs is what engineering builds. This is a player-coach role: you lead the team and stay hands-on.

The ideal candidate has 5 or more years in security or cloud security engineering, including senior or lead-level experience, has owned the design of security platforms at scale, and has led or mentored engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop the Security Engineering team; set priorities, run the engineering cadence, and build career paths.

Technical Direction

Own the architecture and roadmap for the security platforms and make and document the major design decisions.

Cloud Security Architecture

Set the security architecture for our AWS environment: identity guardrails, logging and monitoring, and posture management.

Detection and Automation Platform

Own the detection-as-code framework and the automation and agent tooling the SOC depends on.

Agentic Fleet Management

Build and run the platform behind our fleet of security agents: tooling and integrations, permissions and guardrails, evaluation and logging, and the reliability of the whole system.

Quality Bar

Run design and code review and define engineering standards for testing, infrastructure as code, and observability.

Operations Partnership

Translate escalation patterns and incident findings into an engineering roadmap with the Security Operations Team Lead.

Hands-On Work

Take the hardest technical problems yourself, with AI-assisted development as the default way of working.

Stakeholder Management

Represent Security Engineering to security leadership, R&D, and IT, and make the case for investments with data.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 5 or more years in security engineering, cloud security, or detection engineering, including senior or lead-level work.

Leadership

Experience leading, mentoring, or managing engineers.

AI-Assisted Workflows

Hands-on experience building LLM-based or agent-based workflows and the tooling around them, and using AI-assisted development as a normal part of engineering.

Architecture

Experience owning the design of security platforms at scale: log pipelines, detection frameworks, cloud security controls.

AWS Depth

Deep knowledge of AWS security architecture, IAM, organizations and guardrails, and security services.

AWS Certification

AWS Security Specialty or Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent demonstrated depth.

Engineering Depth

Strong Python and infrastructure as code, with a record of shipping production systems.

Communication

Writes clear design documents and explains technical trade-offs to leadership.

Nice to Have

SaaS Security: SSPM and SaaS integration security at scale.

Regulated Environments

FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.

Certifications

AWS Security Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, CISSP, or similar.
