About this role

Embedded Systems Engineer III Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Embedded Systems Engineer III to design, develop, and validate firmware and embedded hardware for real-time products. The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into robust embedded solutions, drive prototype bring-up and production handoff, and mentor junior engineers.

Strong hands-on skills in C++, RTOS-based development, PCB understanding, and embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, CAN) are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain embedded firmware in C++ for microcontroller-based systems.
  • Develop and debug real-time software using RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, ThreadX) and ensure deterministic behavior.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to review PCB schematics/layouts and perform hardware-software integration and bring-up.
  • Implement and validate communication stacks and drivers for I2C, SPI, and CAN interfaces.
  • Perform system-level debugging using tools such as JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests, and automate test benches where appropriate.
  • Optimize code for performance, memory footprint, and power consumption on resource-constrained devices.
  • Document designs, maintain firmware version control, and participate in design reviews and code reviews.
  • Work with manufacturing and test engineering to support production test procedures and troubleshoot field issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of professional experience in embedded systems development (firmware and hardware integration).
  • Proficient in C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with RTOS concepts and implementation.
  • Practical experience with PCB fundamentals and hardware bring-up (schematic reading, signal integrity basics).
  • Working knowledge of I2C, SPI, and CAN protocols and experience implementing or debugging corresponding drivers.

Experience using debugging and validation tools

  • JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial terminals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and communication.
