Job description

About this role

A growing plaintiff personal injury law firm is hiring a Pre-Litigation Attorney for its Chicago office. You'll own a personal injury caseload from intake through settlement, with strong support staff and high-level mentorship. This is a full-time, in-office role with real autonomy and accountability.

What you'll do

  • Own personal injury cases from intake through settlement, and set the strategy that moves each one forward
  • Investigate liability, damages and case value, and analyze medical records and other evidence
  • Draft and review demand packages and other legal documents
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel, and advise clients on settlement offers
  • Guide clients through the process: set expectations, answer questions, and keep them informed
  • Work closely with legal assistants, case managers, lien negotiators and other attorneys

Requirements

  • Active Illinois bar license in good standing
  • 5+ years of plaintiff personal injury experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of Illinois personal injury law and procedure
  • Experience managing a significant personal injury caseload
  • Strong negotiator who can weigh risk, leverage and case value
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently within a team
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, not required

Compensation and benefits

  • $150,000+ per year, depending on experience
  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick time and firm holidays
  • Medical, dental, vision, life and other ancillary insurance
  • 401(k) with match
  • Professional development, company-provided technology, and room to grow into more responsibility
