About the Company
Our client is an early-stage software company building an AI-powered operating system for business aviation. Its customers are private charter operators that sell and perform flights. The platform connects quoting and sales with scheduling, trip management, dispatch, crew administration, and customer requests, replacing manual coordination across emails, phone calls, and spreadsheets.
The company is expanding an established sales product into a broader dispatch platform across web and pilot applications. It is also developing financial products that connect aviation operations with payments and expense reconciliation. Engineers work closely with product leadership and customers to understand how these workflows operate in practice.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced full-stack engineer who can take technical responsibility for major product areas and help a small engineering team deliver complex projects. You will spend most of your time contributing directly to the product while guiding architecture, organizing work, and helping other engineers make sound decisions.
You should be comfortable investigating an unclear customer problem, defining a practical solution, and carrying it through implementation and release. This role offers a potential path into engineering management as the team grows, based on demonstrated leadership, performance, and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead major initiatives from customer discovery and requirements through architecture, implementation, testing, release, and iteration.
- Build across frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, and SQL data models while remaining an active contributor to production code.
- Work on complex dispatch workflows involving flight schedules, crew and training records, pilot applications, and customer logistics.
- Work directly with customers and product partners to clarify requirements, question assumptions, demo solutions, and respond to feedback.
- Guide architectural decisions, evaluate tradeoffs, and balance delivery speed with maintainability, reliability, and future growth.
- Help engineers break large projects into manageable work, review code, resolve blockers, and communicate risks and progress.
- Use AI development tools to improve delivery speed while taking responsibility for the quality and behavior of everything shipped.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial recent hands-on full-stack development.
- Meaningful experience at multiple startups, with increasing responsibility for projects, product areas, or technical direction.
- Strong production experience with React and Node.js, supported by TypeScript, Next.js, SQL, and API development skills.
- A record of leading complex projects while contributing code and helping other engineers deliver successfully.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to explain technical decisions in terms of customer needs and business outcomes.
- Clear communication with customers and peers; ability to learn unfamiliar systems, investigate uncertainty, and raise blockers early.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, with strong software engineering fundamentals.
Core Technology
Frontend:
React, TypeScript, and Next. js
Backend:
Node. js, APIs, and integrations
Data:
SQL and relational data modeling
Preferred Experience
- B2B SaaS or software for logistics, scheduling, financial workflows, or other operationally complex businesses. Strong consumer-product backgrounds are also welcome.
- Experience mentoring engineers or managing a team while maintaining substantial individual contributions.
- Production AI features, LLM integrations, or practical experience with AI development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
- Cloud services, containers, or CI/CD, including tools such as AWS, GCP, Docker, or Kubernetes; aviation knowledge or interest.
Why Join
- Own consequential product and architecture decisions on a small engineering team.
- Work directly with customers and see how your decisions affect real flight operations.
- Help shape a growing dispatch platform alongside software already serving paying customers.
- Develop broader leadership responsibility, with a potential path into engineering management as the company grows.
