Our client, a well-known entertainment based non-profit, is looking for a full-time Web Designer / Wordpress Expert to join their NYC team! This is a hybrid role (onsite 3 days per week, remote 2 days).
In this role, the Web Designer must combines a strong visual design background with hands-on website experience. This role is approximately 50% design and 50% website production, maintenance and technical support. Aside from great design skills, you comfortable working behind the scenes of a WordPress website, making updates, working with basic code and troubleshooting routine website issues.
Working closely with a Web Developer and graphic design team, you will design digital experiences, maintain and update the websites and provide first-line website support when the Web Developer is unavailable.
The Web Designer will
Design responsive, standards-compliant Mailchimp email campaigns and modernize existing templates.
Create wireframes and high-fidelity designs for responsive WordPress pages and themes.
Apply responsive design and WCAG accessibility standards across all digital experiences.
Maintain the visual consistency of broadwaycares.org and dradance.org.
Optimize and prepare digital assets for web, email, and social media across various file formats.
Deliver clean, organized, developer-ready files and collaborate closely with the web developer on implementation.
Test and refine designs across devices, browsers, and email clients, resolving rendering and production issues.
Translate marketing and creative objectives into digital experiences and design solutions.
Partner with communications, development, and production teams to meet project and event deadlines.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization.
Support additional design needs including social media graphics, event materials, print collateral, signage, and website updates.
Organize and maintain graphic, photography, and video asset libraries.
Participate in fundraising campaigns and events, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.
The Web Designer has
Ideally 2+ years of professional web or digital design experience in an agency, in-house, nonprofit, or freelance environment.
Strong portfolio showcasing web design, email design, and digital marketing work.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and expertise optimizing assets for digital platforms.
Experience designing responsive emails in Mailchimp or a similar email marketing platform.
Familiarity with WordPress theme design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and best practices.
Ability to translate creative and marketing requests into wireframes, polished designs, and developer-ready assets.
Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Experience with social media design, video editing, motion graphics/animation, or print production is a plus.
Must be able to work in a hybrid environment with at least three days onsite in Midtown Manhattan.
