Design

Co-own the roadmap for Rating & Pricing technology, covering rate management across Air, Ocean, and Ground, dynamic pricing, quote intake and execution, and route optimization. Conduct deep process shadowing and interviews with pricing desks and air/ocean product leads. Map current-state workflows from rate sourcing through quote generation and execution; identify the highest-leverage automation opportunities.

Design future-state workflows; build mockups and POCs to validate feasibility with pricing stakeholders before engineering investment.

Technical Design

Facilitate architecture and integration decisions for the canonical rate object, rate management data stores, and the systems that consume them Oversee integrations between the rating platform and route optimization, dynamic pricing, and downstream billing systems. Ensure standard engineering patterns are followed across the rating technology stack; identify and resolve cross-team capability gaps.

Success (Execution and Measurement)

Define operational KPIs: quote turnaround time, response and win rates, rate coverage and accuracy, and pricing margin performance. Partner with pricing desk leadership and analytics teams for structured rollouts. Create meaningful measurement frameworks throughout the project lifecycle, with particular emphasis on instrumentation during rollouts to track adoption, impact, and pricing accuracy improvements.

Instrument experiments with analytics and data science; evaluate automation and dynamic pricing impact. Drive adoption of new rating tools through change management and internal enablement.

Cross-team Coordination

Build strong relationships with air and ocean product leadership, pricing desks, and sales leadership across regions. Understand lane-level, mode-specific, and regional pricing differences, and ensure platform flexibility to accommodate them. Serve as the primary voice of Rating & Pricing within the TPM and engineering teams.

Other Skills & Abilities

Cross-Functional Leadership & Technical Acumen:

Academic or practical experience with fundamentals of AI across modalities. Adept in reading and writing code and working with modern application ecosystems (HTTP APIs, messaging and queueing systems). Experience in agile or scrum environments.

Comfort operating without deep vertical domain expertise in any single area, relying instead on structured discovery and strong stakeholder partnership.

Domain and Measurement Expertise

Deep understanding of freight rating and pricing: contract rates, spot rates, RFQ/RFP processes, and data models across Air, Ocean, and Ground. Experience with rate management platforms, quoting engines, or revenue management systems. Strong comfort with dynamic pricing concepts (lane utilization, lead time, competitor signals).

Strong data orientation with a proven track record of creating meaningful measurement frameworks, especially during product rollouts and organizational change initiatives.

Communication and Organization

Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical and operational concepts to diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders. Strong analytical skills with solid experience writing functional and technical specifications (PRDs). Strong organization skills with excellent attention to detail.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. 10+ years of technical program or product management experience with strong preference for pricing technology, revenue management, or freight rating systems. All TPM candidates must demonstrate:

  • Cross-team leadership experience across engineering, AI, data science, and business operations.
  • Comfort reading and writing code and working with modern application ecosystems (HTTP APIs, messaging and queueing systems).
  • Experience in Agile or Scrum environments.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable

Prior experience building applications as an engineer or product manager; familiarity with freight rating platforms or revenue management systems; experience with dynamic/rules-based pricing engines; exposure to route optimization or network planning; change management experience for pricing desks or commercial teams.

Certification & Licenses

Professional certification is not required for this position. Relevant certifications in project management (PMP, CSM) or product management (PSPO, PGSPO) are a plus.
