Job Overview

Couchbase is seeking a skilled Database Software Engineer to contribute to the development and improvement of database technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience with database architecture, distributed systems, query processing, and software engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain database software components.
• Improve database performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Develop efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms.
• Work on database indexing, query processing, and optimization.
• Build and maintain distributed database services.
• Identify and resolve software defects and performance issues.
• Develop automated tests for database functionality.
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams.
• Participate in architecture reviews and code reviews.
• Maintain technical documentation and engineering standards.

Required Skills

• Strong programming experience in C++, Java, Go, or Python.
• Understanding of database management systems.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
• Familiarity with data structures and algorithms.
• Understanding of distributed systems and concurrency.
• Experience with Linux development environments.
• Knowledge of debugging and software testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with MongoDB, Couchbase, or other NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of database internals and query optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Understanding of replication, indexing, and data partitioning.

Compensation

Estimated annual base salary: $140,000 – $190,000, depending on experience, technical expertise, and job level. This is an illustrative range, not a confirmed salary for this exact position.
