About this role
Electrical Engineer
Consarc Corporation | Rancocas, New Jersey | Full-Time
Engineer the Technology Behind the Materials That Shape Our World.
Who We Are
Every time you board an airplane, drive a car, use your smartphone, or benefit from modern medical technology, you rely on advanced materials engineered to perform under extraordinary conditions.
But where do those materials come from?
Many begin their journey in specialized melting and processing equipment designed and manufactured by companies like Consarc.
Since 1962, Consarc Corporation has been at the forefront of vacuum melting, vacuum casting, remelting, and vacuum heating technology. Our equipment helps manufacturers produce the high-performance metals and alloys used in jet engines, aerospace components, medical implants, power generation equipment, and other products that people depend on every day.
Today, our work extends into some of the most interesting areas of modern manufacturing. We're developing equipment for rare earth permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and advanced electronics; specialized alloys for next-generation aerospace and defense applications; and advanced metal powders used in additive manufacturing and other emerging technologies.
Consarc is part of the Inductotherm Group, a worldwide family of companies specializing in induction heating, melting, thermal processing, and advanced manufacturing equipment. This gives us the resources, technical expertise, and international reach of a global industrial organization while maintaining the hands-on engineering environment of a specialized equipment manufacturer.
From our headquarters in Rancocas, New Jersey, we design and build sophisticated, custom-engineered systems for customers around the world. With strong demand for our products and a new manufacturing expansion underway, we're investing in the people and capabilities needed for the next generation of Consarc technology.
If you're an engineer who wants to see your designs become real machines, solve challenging technical problems, and work on equipment that helps make the materials behind modern technology, Consarc offers that opportunity.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of electrical power and control systems for advanced industrial melting and thermal processing equipment.
Our furnaces combine high-power electrical systems, sophisticated power electronics, automation, instrumentation, and precision process control. Every project presents a different combination of engineering challenges, often involving specialized equipment designed around a customer's unique manufacturing requirements.
This is a hands-on engineering position with involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design and component selection through manufacturing, factory testing, installation, and commissioning.
You'll work directly with experienced engineers, manufacturing personnel, and technical specialists, gaining exposure to complex industrial systems and opportunities to develop expertise in specialized power and process technologies.
What You'll Do
· Design and develop electrical power generation, conversion, and distribution systems for industrial vacuum melting, vacuum casting, remelting, and vacuum heating equipment.
· Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and technical specifications using electrical CAD software.
· Engineer and specify electrical components and power electronics, including SCRs, IGBTs, transformers, inductors, reactors, filters, and related equipment.
· Perform electrical design calculations, including load analysis, power distribution, circuit protection, and component sizing.
· Integrate electrical power systems with industrial automation, instrumentation, safety systems, and auxiliary equipment.
· Collaborate with mechanical engineers, controls engineers, manufacturing personnel, and project managers to develop complete equipment solutions.
· Support manufacturing, assembly, factory acceptance testing, and validation of electrical power and control systems.
· Troubleshoot electrical equipment and resolve technical issues during manufacturing, testing, startup, and commissioning.
· Participate in the development and improvement of electrical designs, engineering standards, and equipment performance.
· Provide technical support to customers and field service personnel, including occasional domestic and international travel.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
· Two to five years of relevant experience in industrial electrical engineering, power electronics, electrical equipment design, or a related field.
· Working knowledge of industrial electrical power systems and electrical equipment.
· Experience with electrical schematic development and design software such as AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
· Familiarity with power electronic devices and components.
· Ability to perform electrical calculations and develop practical engineering solutions.
· Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary engineering team.
· Willingness to work hands-on with equipment during manufacturing, testing, and commissioning.
· Must be a US citizen
· Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, generally less than 20%.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly valuable:
· Design of industrial power supplies, rectifiers, converters, or other high-power electrical systems.
· SCR- or IGBT-based power conversion and control.
· Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLC systems.
· Industrial automation, instrumentation, and HMI development.
· Electrical panel design and industrial electrical safety standards.
· PCB design and electronic circuit development.
· Industrial induction heating, melting, or other high-power thermal processing applications or other complex industrial machinery.
Candidates do not need experience in vacuum melting or metallurgical processing. We are interested in engineers with strong electrical fundamentals, practical problem-solving skills, and an interest in learning specialized technologies.
