About this role

Overview

REPORTS TO: Senior Director, ChimeData Solutions

Position is hybrid, requiring onsite work in Wallingford, CT.

JOB SUMMARY

The Connecticut Hospital Association (CHA) is the leading voice for Connecticut hospitals and healthcare providers, advancing community health through public policy and advocacy, research and education, innovative healthcare services, and collaboration with healthcare and community partners.

ChimeData is CHA’s data and analytics organization, providing healthcare data, analytics, benchmarking, and insights to support hospitals, healthcare organizations, policymakers, and CHA’s internal teams.

CHA seeks a Data and Business Intelligence Analyst to expand the use of data to inform strategy, advocacy, decision-making, and member services. This position combines business intelligence, healthcare analytics, and applied data science, using SQL and/or Python, alongside Tableau or Power BI, to explore data, develop analytical products, and translate complex information into actionable insights.

The analyst will support a broad range of CHA functions, including advocacy and public policy, finance, community health, quality and patient safety, and member services, providing data and analytical support to help teams understand challenges, identify opportunities, and make informed decisions.

The ideal candidate is an intellectually curious, self-directed problem solver with a foundational understanding of healthcare who enjoys solving complex problems or working through ambiguity and thinking outside the box. Working with colleagues at all levels of data expertise, this person will translate business needs into meaningful analytical solutions.

The ability to move fluidly between data, healthcare, and people is just as important as technical skill.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The analyst will support CHA’s cross-functional analytical needs, while proactively identifying opportunities to use data in new and meaningful ways.

  • Analyze healthcare, operational, financial, quality, utilization, and other data to answer strategic and business questions
  • Use SQL and/or Python to query, transform, validate, explore, and analyze data and develop repeatable analytical processes
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Tableau or Power BI
  • Translate ambiguous business questions into clearly defined analytical problems and develop practical, data-driven solutions
  • Partner with teams across CHA to understand their goals and identify how data and analytics can support decision-making
  • Communicate analytical findings, trends, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Explore new data sources and identify opportunities to combine, transform, or analyze data in ways that generate new insights
  • Perform data validation and quality checks and document data definitions, methodologies, and analytical processes
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and analytical processes and improve the efficiency and usability of existing tools
  • Manage assigned analytical projects from problem definition through analysis, validation, and delivery
  • Build strong relationships across CHA and serve as a trusted analytical resource for colleagues and stakeholders
  • Stay current with emerging analytical methods, data technologies, visualization approaches, and responsible applications of AI and data science

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, analytics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, information systems, business, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • Approximately 1–3 years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, healthcare analytics, or a related analytical role
  • Experience working with healthcare data within a healthcare organization or in a healthcare-related environment
  • Demonstrated experience using SQL and/or Python for data querying, analysis, manipulation, automation, or related analytical applications
  • Experience with Tableau or Power BI and an understanding of effective data visualization principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work through ambiguous or complex questions
  • Ability to work with large or complex datasets and identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and limitations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical concepts and findings to non-technical audiences
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders

Preferred:

  • Experience with statistical analysis or applied data science
  • Experience developing automated reporting or analytical workflows
  • Graduate degree in data science, analytics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, information systems, business, healthcare administration, public health, or a related field
