About this role

Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.

At Common Threads, we intentionally do things differently. We prioritize regulation over compliance. We presume competence.

We honor autonomy. We challenge systems. And we believe growth happens in the context of safe, trusting relationships.

We’re seeking a client-centered, neuro-affirming Occupational Therapist to join our growing team.

If you are collaborative, reflective, playful, and deeply committed to strengths-based, trauma-responsive practice, you may feel right at home here.

You might be a great fit if:

  • You understand sensory and motor development as deeply connected to emotional regulation and well-being.
  • You approach behavior as communication and prioritize co-regulation and safety.
  • You value collaboration and enjoy working on transdisciplinary teams.
  • You are committed to neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, healing-centered care.
  • You bring flexibility, creativity, and curiosity into your clinical work.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide individualized, occupation-based therapy grounded in each client’s strengths, goals, and context.
  • Partner closely with caregivers to build practical, sustainable supports.
  • Customize your schedule and caseload to support work-life balance.
  • Develop and refine your unique therapeutic style.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including OTs, SLPs, mental health clinicians, and case managers.

This role is ideal for an OT who values flexibility, autonomy in scheduling, and long-term therapeutic relationships.

Who We Are

Our mission is to empower autistic and other neurodivergent individuals - and those with mental health needs or sensory differences - by providing meaningful, individualized, strength-based supports.

We honor each person’s full, intersectional identity. We respect sensory needs. We believe regulation is foundational.

We presume competence. And we are committed to continuous learning and growth.

Our team reflects a wide range of lived experiences, professional backgrounds, and interests. We actively support clinicians’ personal and professional development and believe collaboration strengthens our impact.

What You’ll Find Here

  • A deeply collaborative, wrap-around team culture
  • Supervision, mentorship, and professional development opportunities
  • In-house administrative, scheduling, and billing support
  • Freedom to develop your therapeutic voice and style
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Professional development stipend
  • 5 weeks PTO per calendar year
  • Retirement account with company match
  • Public Service Loan Forgiveness qualifying employer

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current Wisconsin OT license (or ability to obtain temporary license)
  • NBCOT certification
  • Experience supporting neurodivergents, particularly those with sensory processing, regulation, or motor planning needs
  • Commitment to trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and strengths-based practices
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to maintain stamina and adjust body positioning to support students in various settings and activities, including but not limited to standing, crouching, sitting for extended periods of time, supporting student safety, and use of various equipment, as directed by related service providers and supervisors.
  • Ability to move quickly when necessary to ensure client, staff, and own safety.
  • General computer use including typing and screen time.
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort with caregiver partnership. Reliable transportation if community-based services are part of caseload.

If you are ready to practice in a space where regulation, dignity, and authentic connection guide the work, we would love to hear from you.
