Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our technology team in Kansas City.
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing cloud environments across AWS and Azure. Working closely with Software Engineering, DevOps, Security, and IT Operations teams, you will help ensure our cloud platforms remain secure, resilient, scalable, and cost effective.
This position requires strong hands on cloud engineering experience combined with an understanding of infrastructure automation, networking, security, and modern deployment practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure environments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent technologies.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes.
- Monitor cloud environments and address performance, availability, capacity, and reliability issues.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and collaborate with development teams to improve application deployment processes.
- Configure and maintain cloud networking, including virtual networks, subnets, routing, load balancing, and security controls.
- Implement identity and access management policies in accordance with security requirements.
- Apply cloud security standards relating to access control, encryption, network segmentation, and data protection.
- Support containerized workloads and cloud based application environments.
- Participate in infrastructure architecture reviews and provide technical recommendations.
- Monitor cloud utilization and identify opportunities for performance and cost optimization.
- Develop monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational visibility across cloud platforms.
- Investigate infrastructure incidents and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate architecture diagrams, configuration documentation, and operational procedures.
- Evaluate new cloud technologies and recommend appropriate improvements to existing infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3 or more years of professional experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, DevOps, or a related technical position.
- Hands on experience designing and managing production environments within AWS or Microsoft Azure.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies, particularly Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Good understanding of cloud networking, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and network security.
- Experience with identity and access management within cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Linux or Windows Server administration.
- Experience supporting automated deployment and CI/CD processes.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to engineering and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working across both AWS and Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, Azure Kubernetes Service, or comparable container platforms.
- Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
- Familiarity with CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, Splunk, or similar monitoring platforms.
- Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or comparable CI/CD platforms.
- Understanding of cloud governance and cost management practices.
- Experience supporting highly available or business critical production environments.
- Knowledge of enterprise security and compliance requirements.
- AWS or Microsoft Azure professional certification would be advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $115,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and technical expertise.
