Job Title: UI/UX Designer Specialist II

Location: 1 Water Plaza, New York, NY (TBD/Negotiable)

Duration: 34 Months (with potential for extension)

W2 Hourly Rate: $55-70/hour

Overview:

We are seeking a UI/UX Designer Specialist II who will support our NYS client. This role will support the Fair Hearings program by leading end-to-end UX activities, including user research, design thinking, prototyping, usability testing, and multi-device experience design.

The consultant will collaborate with stakeholders and developers to translate business needs into usable solutions and support applications throughout the delivery and support lifecycle.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand business goals, solve complex business issues, and develop UX solutions and recommendations.
  • Design, develop, and implement client-facing and internal applications while applying enterprise architecture principles to align delivery models with NYS business needs.
  • Address defects and enhancements throughout the application support lifecycle and participate in post-implementation incident resolution as required.
  • Create and execute user research plans using surveys, interviews, focus groups, and related methods, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan and facilitate design thinking workshops and create UX deliverables including journey maps, user models, sketches, user stories, user flows, prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, and sitemaps.
  • Plan and conduct usability testing, collect quantitative and qualitative UX metrics, analyze user feedback and activity, and iterate designs to improve the user experience.
  • Work closely with developers to bring designs to life, support content development, and create and iterate on prototypes that require coding.
  • Design for multi-device web, iOS, and Android contexts and perform other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • More than seven (7) years of experience working on complex projects, with two (2) or more years in a leadership role as a UX Engineer.
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in UI/UX engineering across the full life cycle of design deliverables, including wireframes, mockups, journey maps, prototypes, storyboards, and user surveys.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience working in an Integrated Eligibility System Program in various workstreams, including Fair Hearings, in a Health and Human Services setting.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Figma.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience with user research, user modeling, and usability testing.
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience with CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript.
