Role Description

The Hardware and Systems Engineer will be a full-time, on-site team member based in Raleigh, NC. This role involves designing, integrating, and validating hardware and system-level solutions that support CMUT-based ultrasound platforms.

Daily responsibilities include developing and testing system architectures, performing hardware bring-up and troubleshooting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on system requirements and design documentation.

The engineer will configure and maintain lab systems and test setups, provide technical support for internal stakeholders, and contribute to continuous improvements in reliability, performance, and scalability. The role also includes creating technical reports, participating in design reviews, and supporting the transition from prototype to production-ready systems.

Qualifications

  • Strong Systems Engineering and Systems Design skills to define requirements, architect solutions, and integrate hardware and software components.
  • Hands-on Troubleshooting and Technical Support abilities to diagnose issues, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve system-level problems efficiently.
  • Experience with System Administration for lab and development environments, including configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of engineering systems.
  • Background in hardware design, embedded systems, or electronics engineering, preferably with exposure to sensors, ultrasound, or similar technologies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proficiency with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators) and relevant design or simulation tools.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a start-up environment.
  • Experience with version control, scripting (e.g., Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB), and basic software integration is beneficial.
