About this role
Job Summary The Full Stack Developer will design, build, and maintain innovative technology solutions that improve how Choate's attorneys and business professionals work and serve clients. Working collaboratively across the Firm, this individual will develop secure applications, integrations, automation, and AI-enabled tools that address business needs and improve workflows.
This role is ideal for a curious, self-driven developer who enjoys solving complex problems, exploring new technologies, and taking ownership of projects from concept through implementation. Why Join Us Choate offers a highly collaborative environment where attorneys and business professionals work together to continually improve how we serve our clients.
This role provides an opportunity to help shape the Firm's evolving technology and innovation capabilities and build solutions that have a meaningful impact across the organization. The Full Stack Developer will work on a variety of projects and emerging technologies, including AI, and partner with teams across the Firm to turn ideas and business needs into practical solutions.
Primary Job Functions
Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable full-stack applications in JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js, React, or similar) that support legal and business workflows. Develop Python services, APIs, and automation (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) for backend logic, data processing, document workflows, and integrations.
Build AI-enabled features, including LLM integrations, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and vector search, in line with the Firm’s AI governance and Responsible AI guidelines. Containerize applications and services and deploy them to container orchestration platforms (such as Kubernetes). Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, scanning, and deployment of container images.
Integrate applications with legal and enterprise platforms such as iManage, Microsoft 365/SharePoint, and time and billing systems, and connect cloud and on-premises data sources securely across hybrid environments. Design and optimize data models across relational and NoSQL databases.
Apply security best practices, including single sign-on (SSO), role-based and matter-level access controls, encryption, secrets management, and remediation of container image vulnerabilities. Partner with attorneys and business professionals to understand business needs and translate them into effective technology solutions.
Collaborate with Information Technology, Information Security, Knowledge Management, Data Science, Finance, and other teams on Firmwide initiatives. Participate in application design, code reviews, testing, and technical documentation. Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune application performance using logging and observability tools.
Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend practical opportunities to apply them at Choate.
