Your Impact

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will build the internal platforms and shared capabilities that let our engineering teams ship secure, reliable software faster. This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role spanning application engineering, cloud engineering, quality engineering, security, and architecture. You will help shape how CHAMP builds, tests, releases, and operates software that handles sensitive government data.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement internal platform features, developer tools, and self-service capabilities.
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and reusable GitHub Actions workflows.
  • Implement reusable tools and automated controls for testing, code quality, security, observability, and release readiness that integrate into delivery workflows.
  • Create and maintain shared libraries, components, templates, SDKs, and reference implementations.
  • Build consistent development and deployment patterns that reduce repetitive work across teams.
  • Improve release capabilities through feature flags, progressive delivery, automated rollback, and zero-downtime deployment practices.
  • Build and maintain secure, repeatable AWS infrastructure using Terraform.
  • Support shared cloud-native technologies and message-driven systems, including RabbitMQ.
  • Use engineering metrics and developer feedback to identify and prioritize improvements.
  • Create technical documentation and implementation guidance.
  • Lead technical design discussions and mentor other engineers on platform engineering and DevOps practices.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, cloud engineering, site reliability engineering, software engineering, or a related role.
  • Strong experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and shared developer tooling, libraries, or platform capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
  • Software engineering experience with Java or another modern programming language.
  • Experience implementing automated testing, quality, or security controls, with working knowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, and least-privilege practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across applications, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure, including experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring other engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or contributing to an internal developer platform.
  • Experience with distributed systems, APIs, or message-driven architectures.
  • Experience with LaunchDarkly or another feature flag platform.
  • Experience with automated quality and security tools such as SonarQube, Playwright, or GitHub Advanced Security.
  • Experience with blue-green, canary, or zero-downtime deployment strategies.
  • Experience with automated or ephemeral testing environments.
  • Experience with observability tools, OpenTelemetry, or software-delivery metrics.
  • Experience building reusable Java libraries, SDKs, or Maven components.
  • Experience using AI to accelerate engineering work and enhance developer tools, automation, and platform capabilities.
  • Experience supporting high-availability and fault-tolerant systems.
  • Experience working in government, financial, regulated, or compliance-sensitive environments.
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP, GovRAMP, NIST, or similar security frameworks.
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore engineering teams.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $175,000 annually. This is a good faith estimate, and final compensation may vary based on experience and skills.
