$225K to $250K base + bonus + equity

My client is a venture backed AI company that reached unicorn status faster than almost any start-up in its class. It is hiring its first dedicated in-house attorney. You will own commercial contracting end to end and work directly with the founders.

As the first legal hire, you will set the templates, playbooks and processes the legal function grows from.

The role

• Draft, review, negotiate and redline a high volume of MSAs, SOWs, data licensing agreements and DPAs
• Handle hundreds of incoming contractor and vendor agreements as the company grows
• Work with hiring managers, the Head of People and the founders on contract matters
• Build and improve templates and playbooks to shorten deal cycles
• Manage outside counsel on specialist and high stakes matters
• Take on employment law work as the business needs it

What you bring

• 3 to 6 years of experience with a strong commercial contracts focus
• In-house experience at a Series A to Series D startup; pure Big Law backgrounds will not fit this brief
• Daily use of AI tools such as Claude in your legal work
• Appetite to pick up adjacent areas, including employment law

The package

• $225K to $250K base salary
• Performance bonus tied to company results
