Walk-In Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Job Summary

Compassionate Family Medicine is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Walk-In Care team. We are a multi-site, Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognized primary care organization service Central New York.

This role focuses on same-day acute care within a structured, physician-supported environment.

Position Overview

As a Walk-In Care Provider, you will manage acute and episodic conditions in a high-volume outpatient setting. You will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and medical assistants to ensure efficient patient flow and safe clinical decision-making.

This position supports our mission to reduce unnecessary emergency department visits while maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat acute conditions including upper respiratory infections, influenza, urinary tract infections, minor injuries, lacerations, skin infections, allergic reactions, and acute exacerbations of chronic conditions.
• Perform procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage, splinting and immobilization, EKG interpretation, and nebulizer treatments.
• Order and interpret labs and diagnostic studies.
• Identify patients requiring higher levels of care.
• Coordinate follow-up within our primary care network.
• Document visits accurately and efficiently in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited NP or PA program.
• Active and unrestricted New York State license.
• Board certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA).
• Minimum 1-3 years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or high-acuity outpatient settings preferred.
• Strong procedural skills.
• Ability to work independently with physician collaboration available.

Pay

$85,872.91 to $103416.84 Annually (+DEO)

Schedule

• Full-time and part-time options available.
