About this role

About the Role

Project Manager leads CentriServe IT’s Projects department, combining senior engineer expertise, strong project management, exceptional customer communication, and department leadership. This role owns solution design and project delivery, ensuring customer technology projects are technically sound, accurately scoped, well-coordinated, and successfully transitioned into ongoing managed services.

This position requires a technically credible leader with practical experience deploying and supporting infrastructure in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.

Candidates must understand what it takes to onboard a new customer or location, including full Documentation, key points of contact, software champions, hardware, network equipment, internet connectivity, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Intune.

The manager leads the Project team through the complete project lifecycle, from discovery and scoping, implementation, testing, customer acceptance, and operational (“inclusive to technical services, NOC, etc.”) handoff. This leader must be able to review configurations, troubleshoot complex issues, validate decisions, and provide hands-on assistance when project risk or complexity requires it.

As a department leader, this role is accountable for team performance, resource planning, delivery standards, professional development, project profitability, and customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

Department and Project Team leadership

  • Lead the Projects department, establishing clear priorities, responsibilities, performance expectations, and accountability.
  • Manage, coach, and develop project technicians through regular feedback, technical mentoring, training plans, and performance reviews.
  • Assign and coordinate engineering resources across all projects, balancing technical skills, workload, project schedules, and customer priorities.
  • Maintain visibility into team capacity, utilization, delivery quality, and project profitability.
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point for project technicians and resolve issues that threaten the overall project health or project schedule.
  • Establish and reinforce consistent documentation.
  • Partner with Account Management, Service Desk, cybersecurity, Procurement, and leadership to align department capabilities with customer and business needs

Solution Architecture and Technical Oversight

  • Lead technical discovery, assess existing environments, and translate business requirements into supportable technology solutions.
  • Develop and validate statements of work, bills of materials, licensing requirements, labor estimates, schedules, assumptions, exclusions, and customer responsibilities.
  • Review proposed configurations, migration approaches, security requirements, dependencies, and rollback plans before implementation.
  • Ensure solutions can be monitored, maintained, secured, and supported within CSIT’s managed services environment.

New Customer and Location Onboarding

  • Own technical planning and delivery for onboarding new customers, opening new locations, relocating offices, and integrating acquired sites.
  • Assess site readiness, including internet circuits, vendor coordination, structured cabling, equipment racks, power, UPS capacity, and equipment placement.
  • Oversee procurement, staging, configuration, installation, and validation of firewalls, switches, wireless access points, servers, workstations, and supporting hardware.
  • Validate network designs covering IP addressing, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, routing, VPN connectivity, wireless coverage, and network segmentation.
  • Coordinate Windows Server and Active Directory deployments or migrations, including domain services, Group Policy, file services, permissions, and virtualization.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune setup or migration, including identity integration, device enrollment, configuration policies, compliance policies, application deployment, and access controls.
  • Ensure new environments are enrolled in required remote monitoring, endpoint protection, patching, backup, asset management, and documentation systems.
  • Lead cutover planning, readiness reviews, testing, customer acceptance, and transition into ongoing support.

Project Management and Customer Communication

  • Own the project portfolio and delivery within approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
  • Build and maintain project plans with clear milestones, resource assignments, dependencies, procurement timelines, and customer responsibilities.
  • Direct the project team throughout each engagement, coordinating resources, vendors, and customer stakeholders.
  • Lead project kickoffs, status meetings, readiness reviews, go/no-go decisions, escalations, and project closure.
  • Serve as the primary onboarding and project contact for customers and account managers, communicating progress, risks, decisions, service impacts, and next steps clearly and consistently.
  • Explain technical issues and recommendations in terms customers and business leaders can understand.
  • Manage scope changes, approvals, risks, issues, and competing priorities while maintaining accurate project records.
  • Ensure implementation plans include testing, rollback procedures, user acceptance, and post-implementation support.
  • Complete Operational handoffs with validated configurations, current documentation, known issues, and clear ownership.

Excellence

  • Establish and maintain CSIT’s Professional Services methodology, including project classifications, stage gates, quality controls, change management, testing, and acceptance criteria.
  • Build and maintain standardized project templates, onboarding checklists, technical documentation, reporting, and delivery workflows.
  • Train project participants on their responsibilities throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Conduct lessons-learned reviews and use performance data to improve scoping accuracy, execution, customer communication, and support readiness.
  • Lead adoption of new processes and hold the department accountable for consistent use.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure engineering, systems administration, solution architecture, or technical project delivery, including senior engineer responsibilities.
  • Direct experience delivering infrastructure and customer projects in an MSP environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple teams/departments, including resource allocation, departmental and cross departmental coaching, and performance accountability.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent customer projects from discovery through implementation and operational handoff.

  • Excellent customer-facing communication, presentation, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to independently evaluate technical work, guide troubleshooting, and make sound engineering and delivery decisions.
  • Ability to balance customer outcomes, team capacity, technical quality, delivery risk, and project margin.
