**Position Summary:**
Serves as the District's senior technical authority for enterprise infrastructure, including server, virtualization, storage, and network design. This position defines architecture standards, guides the day\-to\-day operations of the system administration team, and acts as the District's technical liaison to outsourced network and infrastructure service providers.
The role balances hands\-on senior engineering with design ownership, vendor oversight, and supervision of the System Administration staff.
**Essential Functions:**
- Own the architecture, standards, and roadmap for the District's server (Windows Server), networking, virtualization, hyperconverged, storage, and backup environments.
- Provide senior\-level engineering and troubleshooting across the infrastructure stack, serving as the escalation point for complex issues.
- Supervise System Administrators and Senior System Administrators, including work assignments, prioritization, mentoring, and performance oversight.
- Serve as the District's technical counterpart to the outsourced service providers; review and validate network designs, changes, and performance, and hold vendors accountable to District standards and requirements.
- Oversee infrastructure vendors and managed\-service providers, including scope validation, technical review of proposals and SOWs, and performance monitoring.
- Establish and enforce configuration, patching, backup, disaster recovery, and documentation standards.
- Partner with the IT Director on infrastructure budgeting, capacity planning, lifecycle replacement, and technology investment justification.
- Contribute to security and resilience efforts in coordination with the relevant District departments, ensuring infrastructure aligns with cybersecurity and continuity requirements.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure and asset documentation in District\-controlled systems.
- Organize work, establish priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.
- Participate in meetings, committees and continuing education to improve individual, departmental, and organizational performance and efficiency.
- Maintain awareness of the District’s current technology philosophy, policy, vision and resources; currently available and emerging technology solutions suited to the work of the District.
- Work with IT leadership in the development and implementation of long\-term strategy and planning for District\-wide technology.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and support skills.
**Other Duties:**
- Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
- Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
- Stay current with technological developments and recommend ways to take advantage of new technologies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
**Competency:**
- Expert knowledge of enterprise networking concepts (routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs) sufficient to review designs, implement, and oversee a network service provider.
- Expert knowledge of server virtualization concepts sufficient to review designs, implement and manage hyperconverged virtualization clusters.
- Expert knowledge of infrastructure security principles, including network segmentation, privileged access management, patch and vulnerability management, and backup/disaster\-recovery resilience, with the ability to translate cybersecurity requirements into infrastructure design and configuration standards.
- Highly skilled and respected relationship builder and manager with a reputation for transparent, trustworthy, and clear communication of even the toughest messages with grace, and the ability to effectively manage strong personalities.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to quickly and accurately read ambiguous circumstances, interpret limited information, understand impactful business challenges, and respond as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor.
- Consistently manages multiple priorities and competing assignments while meeting commitments.
- Excellent positive listening, oral, and written communication skills, along with training and presentation skills including the ability to communicate highly technical information to non\-technical stakeholders.
- Clear depth of knowledge in Information Technology fundamentals, current best practice and standards, along with emerging resources and practices.
- Highly skilled user of Microsoft Office suite and other required software.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and support skills.
**Education/Experience Requirements:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field \- and
- Five or more years of experience architecting enterprise infrastructure solutions from concept through implementation, including at least four significant projects such as data center or hyperconverged migration, network redesign across multiple sites, virtualization platform refresh, or backup/disaster recovery modernization.
- Five or more years of experience supervising IT staff, including senior level technical personnel, with responsibility for hiring input, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Ten or more years of experience performing network engineer tasks in an enterprise environment that includes supporting multiple physical locations.
- Ten or more years of experience administering server virtualization systems in an enterprise environment.
- Certifications including A\+, Net\+, Security\+, CCNP with design specialization.
- Regular, dependable attendance required.

**Driving Requirements:**
Must possess a valid Florida State Driver's license and maintain eligibility under the District's commercial vehicle program.
**Physical Demands:**
While engaging in the duties of this position the Employee performs lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
Employee sits frequently. Employee stands and walks occasionally. Employee occasionally bends/stoops/crouches, pushes/pulls, kneels and crawls.
Employee uses their hand(s)/arm(s) to reach in any direction and seize, grasp, hold and turn object using hand(s). Employee uses fingers, versus whole hand, to pick, pinch and feel objects. Employee sees, talk and hear as they communicate with others in person, electronically or by phone.
Employee will operate motor vehicle(s) that involve the use of hand/foot controls.
Pay: $113,256\. 00 \- $151,008\. 00 per year
