About this role

Director of HR / People & Culture

Location: Riverton, Utah | On-site

An established, growing distribution company is seeking a Director of HR / People & Culture to lead its HR function and help shape its next stage of growth.

With approximately 80 employees and ambitious expansion plans, the company offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on its people, managers, and business. You will serve on the executive team, combining strategic leadership with hands-on responsibility for daily HR operations.

The company has established policies, career-pathing resources, interview guides, and HR systems. Your opportunity is to bring these resources into consistent practice—equipping managers to lead effectively and creating a positive employee experience.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with executives to align people priorities with business goals.
  • Coach frontline and middle managers, particularly employees transitioning into leadership.
  • Develop practical leadership training, career-development programs, and succession plans.
  • Lead recruiting, workforce planning, onboarding, retention, and performance management.
  • Manage employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action with fairness and sound judgment.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, HR administration, vendor relationships, and compliance.
  • Strengthen employee communication, engagement, recognition, and opportunities for feedback.
  • Use workforce data to identify priorities and measure progress.
  • Promote consistent use of HR policies, systems, and management practices.

What you bring

  • At least seven years of progressive HR experience across core functions.
  • At least three years leading HR staff, programs, or cross-functional people initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success coaching managers and improving leadership effectiveness.
  • The ability to advise executives while personally executing everyday HR work.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and practices covering employee relations, recruiting, compensation, benefits, and performance management.
  • An approachable, collaborative style and the confidence to address difficult issues directly and respectfully.
  • Experience using HR systems and workforce reporting tools.

Experience supporting hourly employees in distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or another operational environment is preferred. A bachelor’s degree and HR certification are also preferred; candidates with equivalent practical experience are encouraged to apply.

Why consider this opportunity?

  • A seat on the executive team and direct influence on business decisions.
  • Meaningful ownership of manager development and the employee experience.
  • Established HR resources to build upon.
  • A collaborative, people-first leadership team and a modern Riverton facility.
