About the Opportunity

Our client is an innovative technology company developing advanced software and systems for drone operations, robotics, and aerospace applications. They are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with expert-level C++ programming experience to join their talented engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, developing sophisticated algorithms, and working on advanced software systems supporting drone and ground station operations.

Candidates with backgrounds in robotics, aerospace, autonomous systems, or AI will be especially attractive.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, enhance, and expand the existing C++ software codebase supporting ground station and drone operations.
• Design, develop, and implement new algorithms.
• Modify and extend communications protocols.
• Contribute to software architecture, system design, and engineering process development.
• Develop and maintain software in a Linux-based environment.
• Apply strong software engineering principles to build reliable, efficient, and maintainable applications.
• Work independently on complex technical challenges while collaborating with other engineering team members.

Required Qualifications

This position requires U.S. citizenship due to applicable government contract and security-clearance requirements.

• Expert-level proficiency in C and C++ software development, including the STL.
• Advanced knowledge of low-level programming concepts, including compiler operations and memory management.
• Strong Linux development experience, including POSIX and related libraries.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software development methodologies.
• Solid mathematical and/or physics background, including experience with vector operations.
• Experience with Agile or similar software development processes.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to remain focused and effective in demanding operational environments.

Additional Technical Experience:

• Front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Backend development using Python.
• Android development using Java or Kotlin.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

• Robotics, aerospace, defense, or drone technology.
• Autonomous systems and autonomy development.
• Artificial intelligence and AI-assisted software development tools.
• Aerospace software development processes.
• Advanced Linux development.
• Embedded systems and microcontroller development, including STM32.
• Embedded Linux, including Yocto.
• Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Software architecture patterns such as MVC, MVP, and MVVM.
• Pub/Sub architectural patterns.
• Cross-platform development frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, or Xamarin.
• Video game development.
• Mechanical, electrical, or systems troubleshooting.
• Active U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred.
