Senior Accountant (CPA Preferred)

About the Opportunity

Busy Season is recruiting a Senior Accountant for a well-capitalized company building out its finance operation in San Juan, Puerto Rico. A very competitive salary will be provided to the selected candidate.

This is an opportunity to join a new operation early and work directly with finance leadership. We are looking for an accountant who pairs strong technical accounting with hands-on ownership of day-to-day financial operations, internal controls, and process improvement — ideally bringing experience across both public accounting and corporate environments.

What You'll Do

• Play a key role in month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy.
• Prepare and support financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Manage accounts payable, vendor payments, cash management, and bank reconciliations.
• Review invoice processing, approval workflows, and GL coding.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies while strengthening internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits with schedules and documentation.
• Contribute to accounting system implementations, process improvements, and automation.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, and other teams to improve procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger, reconciliation, financial reporting, and month-end close skills.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong Excel skills and hands-on experience with an accounting/ERP system.
• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• External audit experience with a CPA firm (Big Four a plus).
• Blend of public accounting and corporate/private-sector accounting experience.
• Experience implementing, improving, or automating accounting processes.
• Exposure to ERP platforms (NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Workday, or similar).
