Software Support Engineer

Job Description

Business Software, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Software Support Engineer to provide technical support for enterprise payroll tax software and related business applications. The ideal candidate has experience troubleshooting software issues, supporting database-driven applications, investigating system errors, and assisting customers with technical questions.

This role involves working with development, implementation, and customer service teams to resolve software problems and maintain reliable application performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for enterprise software applications.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve application errors and system issues.
• Troubleshoot payroll software calculations and data-processing problems.
• Assist customers with software configuration and integration questions.
• Analyze application logs, database records, and error reports.
• Work with SQL queries to investigate and validate data issues.
• Document support cases, resolutions, and recurring technical problems.
• Escalate complex software defects to development teams.
• Participate in software testing and product updates.
• Maintain technical knowledge of software features and system changes.

Required Technical Skills

• Experience in software support, application support, or technical troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Understanding of Windows-based applications and web technologies.
• Familiarity with APIs, XML, JSON, and application integrations.
• Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot software errors.
• Knowledge of software testing and debugging processes.
• Strong written communication and customer support skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting payroll, HR, or financial software.
• Familiarity with payroll tax calculations and compliance systems.
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with enterprise application integrations.
• Familiarity with cloud-based software platforms.
• Understanding of ticketing systems and technical documentation.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
