The **Cloud \& Data Platform Engineer** will help build, support, and scale the BEACON enterprise data platform. This role will be responsible for advancing Bunzl's Azure and Databricks ecosystem, enabling analytics, reporting, data governance, automation, and future AI capabilities across North America.
The platform is evolving to a standardized, governed, and scalable operating model with automated deployment, enterprise data standards, and modern Lakehouse architecture.
**Responsibilities**
- Design, build, and optimize scalable infrastructure and administration solutions using Azure and Databricks.
- Support enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines, ingestion frameworks, data transformation processes, and Databricks apps.
- Implement and enforce user policies to ensure best practices are being followed
- Support Databricks platform administration, monitoring, security, and performance, and cost optimization.
- Build automated CI/CD deployment pipelines and Infrastructure\-as\-Code solutions.
- Partner with business, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver trusted, governed, and production\-ready data assets.
- Drive adoption of enterprise standards for data quality, metadata, lineage, governance, and access management.
- Contribute to the foundation supporting advanced analytics, AI, and future data enablement initiatives.
**Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or similar area of study
- 2\+ years of hands\-on Azure Databricks experience.
- 3\+ years working with Microsoft Azure.
- 5\+ years of Data Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering experience.
- Strong experience with Python, SQL, Spark, and distributed data processing.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise\-scale data platforms.
- Hands\-on experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and cloud automation.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and operational support.
##### **Technical Skills**
Requires hands\-on experience with Azure, Databricks, Python, SQL, PySpark, CI/CD automation, data governance, Power BI integration, and enterprise Lakehouse architecture
##### **Preferred Qualifications**
- Certifications: Databricks Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer (DP\-203\), or Azure Solutions Architect (AZ\-305\).
- Experience with enterprise data migrations, ERP integrations, cloud modernization, AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics platforms.
