Opportunity Overview

Brown Sugar Babe is seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative – Fragrance Specialist to provide exceptional customer support and knowledgeable fragrance guidance to our customers.

This opportunity is ideal for an independent professional who combines strong customer service experience with genuine fragrance knowledge and enthusiasm. The contractor should be comfortable assisting customers with fragrance recommendations, scent profiles, layering combinations, product education, and order-related inquiries while delivering an elevated and professional customer experience.

This is not a traditional customer service opportunity. We are seeking someone who brings both strong customer service capabilities and genuine fragrance expertise. Qualified contractors should be comfortable discussing fragrance notes, accords, scent families, designer and niche fragrances, layering techniques, and current fragrance trends.

Scope of Services

Services may include:

• Providing customer support through email, chat, and designated customer-support platforms.
• Responding to customer inquiries regarding products, orders, shipping, returns, exchanges, promotions, and rewards.
• Developing and maintaining strong knowledge of Brown Sugar Babe fragrance oils, collections, and product offerings.
• Providing personalized fragrance recommendations based on customer preferences, scent profiles, notes, scent families, and desired fragrance experience.
• Recommending fragrance layering combinations based on complementary notes, accords, and scent families.
• Educating customers on fragrance notes, accords, scent families, layering techniques, longevity, projection, and product usage.
• Assisting customers with fragrance comparisons, scent pairings, and product-selection questions.
• Addressing customer concerns professionally and identifying appropriate resolutions consistent with established customer-service guidelines.
• Maintaining awareness of Brown Sugar Babe product launches, limited-edition collections, and fragrance releases.
• Staying informed about relevant fragrance trends, popular scent profiles, designer and niche fragrance releases, and emerging customer preferences.
• Accurately documenting customer inquiries and resolutions within designated customer-support systems.

Fragrance Knowledge

Strong fragrance knowledge is an important component of this opportunity.

Qualified contractors should be comfortable discussing:

• Fragrance notes, accords, and scent families.
• Fragrance layering and complementary scent combinations.
• Longevity, projection, and fragrance performance.
• Designer, niche, luxury, and indie fragrance brands.
• Popular and emerging fragrance trends.
• Seasonal fragrance preferences and scent profiles.
• Fragrance terminology commonly used by fragrance consumers and enthusiasts.

The ideal contractor actively follows the fragrance community and stays informed about new releases, viral fragrances, popular layering combinations, and fragrance conversations across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.

Qualifications

Qualified contractors should demonstrate:

• At least 2 years of relevant customer service experience, preferably within e-commerce, fragrance, beauty, luxury consumer products, or a related industry.
• Strong fragrance knowledge and familiarity with the fragrance industry.
• Familiarity with designer, niche, luxury, and/or indie fragrance brands.
• Strong written communication skills, including grammar, spelling, professionalism, and attention to tone.
• Ability to understand customer fragrance preferences and provide thoughtful, personalized recommendations.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to independently manage contracted services and meet agreed-upon service expectations.
• Experience with Shopify, Gorgias, Zendesk, or similar customer-support platforms is preferred.
• Familiarity with Brown Sugar Babe fragrance oils and collections is strongly preferred.

Independent Contractor Engagement

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity and not an employee position.

The selected contractor will provide services pursuant to Brown Sugar Babe's Independent Contractor Service Agreement, which establishes the scope of services, compensation, deliverables, confidentiality requirements, and other applicable terms of the engagement.
