Senior React Native Engineer

BossTax | Full-time | Remote

About BossTax

BossTax is building a better way to do taxes, combining modern technology, automation, and expert tax preparation to make taxes simpler for everyone.

The Role

We’re looking for a highly capable, hands-on React Native engineer to own our mobile application end to end. You’ll be our primary mobile engineer, responsible for developing new features, maintaining the codebase, managing releases, and ensuring our app stays reliable as we grow.

We’re a small, growing team with significant investment in our backend infrastructure. We’re looking for someone who thrives with autonomy, takes ownership of the full mobile development lifecycle, and uses modern AI coding tools like Claude Code to work efficiently and independently.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the development and maintenance of our React Native mobile application, from architecture and implementation through production releases.
  • Build and ship new features in close collaboration with the founder and backend engineering team.
  • Manage iOS and Android builds, releases, App Store and Google Play listings, and ongoing app updates.
  • Maintain our Expo development and update workflows, including build configuration, over-the-air updates, and release management.
  • Keep dependencies, libraries, and native integrations compatible and up to date.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, improve app performance, and maintain a high-quality user experience.
  • Use Claude Code and other AI development tools effectively to accelerate implementation, testing, debugging, and maintenance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong professional experience building and shipping production applications with React Native.
  • Experience owning mobile applications in production, including releases, debugging, dependency management, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Familiarity with Expo and its build, update, and deployment workflows.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and take full ownership of deliverables.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools, particularly Claude Code, and the judgment to review, test, and maintain the code they produce.
  • A practical, resourceful mindset: you enjoy shipping great software without needing a large engineering team around you.

The ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor who can take an existing application, understand how it works, and confidently own everything required to keep it evolving and running in production.
