About this role
BOND is hiring a Senior Director, Flight Operations Technology — Product Management to own the strategy, definition, and hands-on delivery of our entire flight operations technology platform. This is not a strategy-only role.
You will be the driving force behind a portfolio of 15+ flight operations systems—rolling up your sleeves to write product requirements, configure platforms, lead vendor implementations, design integrations, and ensure every system delivers measurable operational value.
You will sit at the intersection of aviation operations and technology, translating complex Part 135 operational workflows into system requirements, data models, and integration architectures. You will partner daily with dispatch, crew scheduling, maintenance, pilots, and engineering to build the operational technology backbone that powers every BOND flight.
If you have spent years in private aviation wishing the technology was better—this is your chance to build it.
What You Will
Own
Flight Operations Platform Implementation
Lead the end-to-end implementation of our core SaaS flight operations platform (Portside Horizon), personally driving configuration, requirements, and delivery:
- Product Requirements: Author comprehensive PRDs covering all operational workflows—scheduling, quoting, dispatch, crew management, owner reporting, and billing integration.
- Platform Configuration: Configuration of Portside Horizon modules; define business rules, workflow automations, and reporting templates.
- Implementation Roadmap: Own phased delivery milestones with clear dependencies, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
- Vendor Management: Drive accountability with Portside and all flight ops vendors—run sprint reviews, manage escalations, and negotiate scope.
- UAT & Training: Design and execute user acceptance testing and training programs for dispatch, crew scheduling, and ops teams.
- Integration Architecture: Define integration requirements with NetSuite (finance), Salesforce (CRM), Databricks (data platform), and the BOND Customer App.
Flight Operations Technology Ecosystem (15 Platforms)
Own product strategy, vendor selection, and hands-on implementation for the complete flight ops technology stack:
- Flight Operating System: Portside Horizon — scheduling, dispatch, flight following, owner portal, and clearance.
- Flight Planning: evaluate and implement routing, weather, NOTAMs, and performance planning.
- Maintenance Tracking:— partner with maintenance leadership on MRO workflows, MEL management, and QMS.
- Electronic Tech Log: implement paperless flight logging and defect tracking.
- Crew Planning & Scheduling: Define requirements for duty time tracking, qualification management, fatigue risk, and AI-driven schedule optimization.
- Safety Management System: Implement safety reporting, hazard tracking, and risk management.
- Trip Support:— integrate FBO, fuel, and ground handling services.
- FOQA: Coordinate flight data monitoring and analytics with OEM programs.
- AI Scheduling Engine: Define requirements and training data for custom-built AI aircraft scheduling and crew optimization engines.
Cross-Functional Integration & Data
- Define and document data flows between flight operations, finance, CRM, and customer-facing applications.
- Partner with engineering on API integrations, webhook architectures, and custom development requirements.
- Ensure flight operations data feeds real-time dashboards, analytics, and executive reporting (Databricks / Power BI).
- Collaborate with the data platform team on AI scheduling engine requirements and training data specifications.
- Drive data quality, master data management, and operational KPI definition across all flight ops systems.
Requirements
Required
- 8+ years of product management or technology leadership experience in aviation technology, flight operations software, or aviation SaaS platforms.
- Direct, experience with private aviation operations: Part 135 charter, fractional ownership, jet card programs, or aircraft management.
- Deep domain expertise in flight operations workflows: aircraft scheduling, dispatch, crew management, maintenance coordination, flight planning, and trip support.
- Proven track record of leading SaaS platform implementations in aviation environments—from requirements through go-live and optimization.
- Strong technical acumen: ability to define integration architectures, understand APIs and data models, and collaborate effectively with software engineering teams.
- Experience writing PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and implementation roadmaps.
- Excellent stakeholder management: able to translate fluently between technical teams, operational users, and executive leadership.
- Comfortable working hands-on in a fast-paced, scaling environment—this is a builder role, not a delegator role.
Strongly Preferred
- Prior experience at a flight operations technology company: Portside, FL3XX, SchedAero, JetInsight, Avianis, ForeFlight, CAMP Systems, Traxxall, Collins Aerospace (ARINCDirect / flight support), or similar.
- Experience at a charter, fractional, or management operator: NetJets, Flexjet, Wheels Up, Vista / XO, Sentient Jet, Jet Linx, Priester Aviation, or similar.
- Familiarity with FAA regulations (Part 91, Part 135) and their operational and technology implications.
- Experience with adjacent enterprise platforms: NetSuite, Salesforce, Databricks, Snowflake, or similar.
- Background in operations, dispatch, or crew scheduling—operational experience is a significant plus.
- Experience with AI/ML applications in scheduling optimization, demand forecasting, or operations research.
Nice to Have
- Pilot certificate or aviation maintenance background.
- Startup or high-growth company experience.
- Experience with FOQA programs, safety management systems, or fatigue risk management.
