About this role

Senior Brand Manager

Ashland, Oregon | Onsite

The Mission

A strong brand is more than a name on packaging. It needs a clear consumer promise, the right product portfolio, disciplined economics, and a plan that can win at retail.

We're looking for a Senior Brand Manager who can connect consumer insight to product strategy - and product strategy to commercial results. You'll own the direction of assigned brands and licensed properties, shape portfolio and innovation priorities, and partner across Product Design & Development, Sales, Marketing, E-Commerce, and Finance to turn that strategy into successful launches and stronger ongoing performance.

This is a senior individual-contributor role with broad influence. You won't simply coordinate launches or brief campaigns. You'll make recommendations that affect assortment, pricing, investment, retail stories, lifecycle decisions, and where the brand should go next.

Can you see both what makes a product compelling and whether the business behind it works?

If that question sounds like your kind of work, keep reading.

What You'll Do

  • Own the Brand Plan. Build annual and longer-range strategies for assigned brands, including positioning, consumer targets, growth priorities, assortment architecture, pricing, lifecycle decisions, and portfolio expansion opportunities.
  • Shape the Portfolio. Use consumer, category, competitive, retail, and performance insights to decide what the portfolio needs more of, less of, or next - and translate those decisions into clear product and innovation priorities.
  • Turn Ideas Into Business. Guide product opportunities from concept through commercialization, partnering with Design, Product Development, Delivery, and Creative teams to balance consumer appeal, financial goals, retailer requirements, and launch timing.
  • Own the Commercial Story. Track revenue, gross margin, profitability, forecasts, market performance, and key business drivers. Work with Finance and Sales to explain what is happening, why it matters, and what action should follow.
  • Win at Retail. Partner with Sales and E-Commerce on customer presentations, assortment recommendations, channel strategy, launch plans, and selling stories that improve distribution, sell-through, and profitable growth.
  • Direct the Brand Experience. Set brand and marketing objectives with Marketing & PR, guide positioning and messaging, and evaluate whether activation is strengthening the brand and contributing to commercial performance.
  • Lead Across the System. Align cross-functional teams around priorities, manage assigned licensor and brand-partner relationships, surface risks early, and bring clear recommendations to leadership when the business needs a decision.

What You Bring

  • Brand Builder + Business Owner. You care about what the brand means to consumers and whether the business behind it works. You naturally connect product, positioning, pricing, channel, and financial performance.
  • Consumer Curiosity. You dig beneath opinions. You want to understand what consumers are choosing, what retailers are seeing, what competitors are changing, and what the data is actually telling you.
  • Commercial Judgment. You can separate interesting ideas from investable opportunities and make tradeoffs when consumer appeal, timing, margin, retailer needs, and portfolio priorities compete.
  • Product Instinct. You can engage credibly with designers and product teams, give useful direction, and recognize when a product idea needs to be strengthened, repositioned, or stopped.
  • Influence Without Authority. You create alignment across strong functions without relying on hierarchy. You communicate the why, listen for constraints, and keep teams focused on the shared business outcome.
  • A Clear Point of View. You are willing to recommend a direction, explain the evidence behind it, and change your mind when better information emerges.

What It Takes

  • Demonstrated ownership of a consumer brand, product line, or portfolio where you were accountable for both strategy and commercial outcomes.
  • Evidence of guiding products or portfolios from insight and concept through launch, retail execution, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Strong financial and analytical fluency, including the ability to work with revenue, margin, forecasts, POS or comparable performance data, and turn analysis into business decisions.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional partners across product, sales, marketing, finance, and related functions, including presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in consumer products, retail-driven categories, or a closely related business where assortment, pricing, launches, and channel performance materially affect results.
  • Working fluency with Excel and presentation tools, with the ability to build a clear business story from complex information.

What Sets You Apart

Experience in toys, children's products, licensed consumer products, major retail accounts, or direct licensor relationships can shorten the ramp. So can experience connecting brand strategy to e-commerce, owned channels, or parent- and teen-facing social activation. An MBA or other advanced degree may add useful perspective, but demonstrated brand and commercial judgment matters more than the credential.

How We'll Measure Success

  • Assigned brands have a clear strategy, defined priorities, and a portfolio that reflects consumer and commercial realities rather than disconnected ideas.
  • Product and launch decisions improve because teams understand the target consumer, business case, retailer needs, and success criteria earlier in the process.
  • Performance reporting leads to decisions: risks are surfaced early, opportunities are quantified, and corrective actions are clear.
  • Cross-functional teams and external partners stay aligned around the most important brand and commercial priorities.
  • The portfolio becomes stronger over time - with better product choices, healthier economics, sharper go-to-market plans, and disciplined lifecycle management.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision, life)
  • 401(k) to help you plan for the future
  • Flexible paid time off—we trust you to recharge when you need it
  • Employee Assistance Program

You become defensive when receiving constructive feedback.
