About this role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support organizational initiatives related to Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and capabilities.
The Business Analyst will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business, clinical, operational, technical, data, and reporting requirements across the organization.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager and collaborate with clinical, operational, IT, data, compliance, and program stakeholders to understand business needs, evaluate existing workflows, and translate requirements into clear, actionable documentation.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, along with experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, and process improvement. Experience in healthcare, public health, or government environments is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Elicit, analyze, document, prioritize, and maintain business, clinical, operational, data, and reporting requirements for EHR initiatives and system enhancements.
- Translate stakeholder needs, workflows, challenges, and desired outcomes into clear, measurable, and solution-neutral requirements.
- Identify underlying business and clinical needs while distinguishing them from existing system limitations, assumptions, and individual preferences.
- Analyze requirements across multiple programs and stakeholder groups to identify common needs, variations, dependencies, and opportunities for standardization.
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions to resolve conflicting requirements, document decisions, and identify necessary exceptions.
- Conduct structured requirements reviews with stakeholders to ensure accuracy, completeness, clarity, and alignment with business objectives.
- Support EHR implementations and enhancements through workflow validation, test scenario development, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect tracking, and readiness assessments.
- Document and analyze current-state and future-state workflows to identify gaps, dependencies, impacts, and process improvement opportunities.
- Develop business analysis deliverables, including process maps, business rules, use cases, requirements matrices, gap analyses, and workflow documentation.
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager to plan and sequence business analysis activities, stakeholder engagements, requirements reviews, testing, and deliverables.
- Communicate requirements status, outstanding decisions, project dependencies, risks, and issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide business analysis support across multiple concurrent EHR initiatives, including new system capabilities, enhancements, workflow changes, and patient-facing functionality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience as a Business Analyst.
- Demonstrated experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, and requirements prioritization.
- Experience facilitating requirements gathering sessions and working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong experience developing executive-level reports, process maps, workflow documentation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Experience conducting risk analysis, gap assessments, and process improvement activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with project managers and diverse stakeholder groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with federal or state government agencies, public health organizations, healthcare organizations, or similar service-oriented environments.
- Experience supporting Electronic Health Records (EHR) implementations, enhancements, or related healthcare IT initiatives.
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related field.
- Professional training or certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, Change Management, Business Analysis, or related disciplines.
