Staff Accountant

The Baton Rouge Water Works Company is seeking staff accountant that will work under the guidance and direction from the Controller. Great opportunity for new graduates with accounting/finance degrees or for an experienced accountant to join our team while learning the Company’s operations and accounting functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

o Banking duties: Assist Controller with bank administrative duties

o Seasonal needs related to budgeting, year-end close, tax depreciation, audit, specialized reporting

o Assist with month-end reporting including GL reconciliations, gathering analytical data, distributing reports, etc

o Train as backup for Payroll Clerk to submit company payroll.

o Train as backup for Accounting Specialist to include preparing monthly bank reconciliations

o Perform special projects as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance strongly preferred

· Bachelor’s degree in business with 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience

· CPA or CPA Candidate a plus.

General understanding of accounting principals

· Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative team environment

· Demonstrate effective analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

· Ability to multi-task, and work in an organized, detailed manner

· Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgement

· Proficient computer skills (MS Office Suites) including intermediate to advanced excel skills.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $83,500.00 per year
