Data Scientist

Baryonyx Management Consulting, Inc. , a data analytics company, is seeking a full\-time, highly intelligent Data Scientist to work on projects supporting our federal government customers. The position is a remote/telework position although attendance at the client location located in Washington, DC may be required on a limited occasion.

The ideal candidate for this position has strong programming and analytical skills and loves to work with data throughout all phases of the data lifecycle including knowing how to extract data, treat and transform it, integrate it with other datasets and performing analysis including statistical and mathematical modeling, as well as reporting and visualizing the data.

The ideal candidate is highly innovative, motivated, process\-minded, has excellent analytical, problem\-solving, and interpersonal skills along with a solid background in working with data and quantitative analysis. Applicants must be comfortable working in a fast\-paced and demanding environment and must exhibit very strong attention to detail. The candidate must be equal parts independent and team oriented.

US Citizenship is required and the candidate must be able to clear a Public Trust screening.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with large datasets and various types of data found in federal government enterprise systems to develop, maintain and enhance reports, analysis and models
• Extract data from various IT systems using SQL and other programming languages
• Manage, treat and integrate data in order to create clean, structured data sets for use in reports, analyses, studies and both AI/ML and non\-AI/ML models
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data
• Conduct both qualitative and quantitative research using client data, formulate hypotheses, test them and present the results in a clear and concise manner
• Use advanced statistical techniques to identify and measure trends, anomalies and determine other relevant insight
• Create visualizations and other tools that allow users to interact with data

Skills and Specifications:

• Extensive experience working with immigration data (CBP, ICE and/or USCIS) preferred
• Expertise in Python and/or R, SQL and Databricks or similar software
• Ability to quickly understand complex data structures and formulate queries to extract information as needed
• Ability to build both simple and complex analytical, statistical, AI/ML or other model using client data that fulfill a quantitative purpose/problem asked by the client
• Ability to quickly understand the operational underpinnings of data found in enterprise systems
• Ability to quickly understand client business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, and self\-directed research
• Ability to think analytically, outside\-the\-box, and dive to the root cause of situations
• Ability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously and prioritize appropriately
• Ability to gather and interpret large amounts of data and information and quickly recognize what is superfluous and what is relevant using analytical and statistical techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally

Education and Qualifications:

• Must be a United States Citizen
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, in a field related to mathematics, computer science, economics, data science, statistics, engineering or related field
• A minimum of six (6\) years of experience in a data analytics role including the use of Python and/or R, SQL and Databricks or similar software
• Ideally, the candidate is located in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area

Pay: $125,000\. 00 \- $150,000\. 00 per year
