About this role

Founded in 1975, BR+A Consulting Engineers maintains a total staff of over 500 employees located at our main office in Boston and branch offices in New York City, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Vienna, VA (Washington, DC); Coral Gables (Miami) and Tampa, FL; Chicago, IL; St. Louis, MO; Raleigh and Charlotte, NC; Charleston, SC; Houston, TX; New Haven, CT; Los Angeles, CA; Denver, CO; and Toronto.

BR+A provides state-of-the-art integrated and coordinated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection consulting engineering, technology systems design, sustainability consulting, lighting design, and building commissioning services.

Borealis Lighting Studio is looking for a Senior Lighting Designer in our Boston, Houston, or Charlotte office who brings a strong design point of view and is ready to lead projects from concept through construction administration. You’ll play a key creative role on project teams, developing strong design ideas, communicating them clearly to architects and clients, and carrying them through each phase of the work.

Our studio works at the intersection of lighting design and engineering, with a focus on human-centric, sustainable design. Our work spans healthcare, laboratory, and specialized environments as well as landscape, exterior, corporate, hospitality, museum, and art installation lighting.

What you bring:

  • 8+ years of architectural lighting design experience, including leading project design and delivery
  • A strong design sensibility and the ability to carry a concept through all project phases
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • The ability to mentor junior designers while owning your project work
  • A degree in lighting design, architecture, interior design, or a related field, supported by a strong portfolio
  • Fluency in Revit, AutoCAD, AGI32, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • LC or CLD certification required

To apply:

Submit a resume and portfolio showing both final work and your design process, including sketches, iterations, and mockups, and identify your specific role on each project.

BR+A is a place to learn, to grow, to work hard for clients that matter – and to be part of something bigger. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including Medical, Dental, Life, and Disability insurance coverage, a 401K plan match, generous paid time-off, and much more, to all our full-time employees.

BR+A is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply irrespective of race, age, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, genetic information, military service, or other non-merit-based factors. Drug testing is a prerequisite for employment.
