AI powered Tax Accountant – Business & Individual Returns

We’re looking for an experienced tax professional who knows the work and wants to change how it gets done. You’ll prepare business and individual returns, work directly with clients, and help shape how the firm uses AI in tax prep, research, and client service.

This isn’t a job where you only enter data from a stack of returns. We want someone who reads about new AI tools, tries them out, and comes in saying “I think we could automate this.”

What you’ll do

• Prepare federal and multi-state returns: 1040, 1120-S, 1065, 1120, and 990
• Handle multi-state work, with an emphasis on RI and MA
• Do tax research and planning for small business owners and individuals
• Work with clients to gather information, answer questions, and resolve IRS and state notices
• Review bookkeeping and prepare year-end adjustments, mostly in QuickBooks Online
• Find and test ways to use AI and automation in our workflows, and help build them
• Help with year-round advisory work, projections, and special projects

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of tax experience at a CPA firm, preparing both business and individual returns
• Strong knowledge of S corporation and partnership taxation
• CPA or progress toward
• Experience with professional tax software (we use Intuit Proconnect)
• Real enthusiasm for AI. You use tools like Claude or ChatGPT now and have ideas for applying them to tax work
• Comfort with technology. Advanced Excel skills and prior automation experience is preferred
• Clear communication with clients and the ability to work independently, especially if you’re remote

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
