Job description

About this role

Learn to Practice Law. Learn to Build a Practice.

Build Your

Own Future.

Banck Law seeks an ambitious, motivated, entrepreneurial associate attorney to join our personal injury practice in beautiful downtown Covington. This opportunity is especially suited to a newly licensed lawyer who wants meaningful litigation experience, practical mentorship, and the chance to learn how to build a successful plaintiff-side practice.

We want someone with intelligence, initiative, a strong work ethic, and a little hustle, not someone content to wait behind a desk for the next assignment.

What You Will Do and Learn

  • Courtroom advocacy: Draft and argue substantive motions, attend hearings, participate in depositions, and prepare for trial.
  • Case strategy: Investigate liability, identify insurance coverage, analyze damages, conduct discovery, and evaluate claims.
  • Client representation: Interview clients, explain the process, manage expectations, and build professional relationships.
  • Medical evidence: Work with doctors, medical offices, and records departments; obtain and analyze records, treatment histories, causation evidence, and damages.
  • Negotiation: Prepare demands, assess offers, and work with insurers and defense counsel toward resolution.
  • Business development: Cultivate referral relationships, originate clients ethically, and learn the economics and operations of contingency-fee practice.

Compensation and Opportunity

  • Base salary: $50,000 annually.
  • Merit bonuses: Discretionary awards for strong performance handling Banck Law cases and clients, including quality of work, initiative, case development, and client service.

Benefits

  • Health insurance and bar dues paid.
  • Earning Potential The $50,000 base is a floor, not a ceiling.
  • Origination compensation is uncapped, so your income grows with the practice you build.
  • For example, an associate who originates Banck Law-funded cases generating $600,000 in collected attorney fees would earn $200,000 in origination compensation, for total pay of $250,000 plus any merit bonus.
  • On associate-funded cases at 50%, $400,000 in collected fees produces the same result.
  • Associates who build larger books of business can earn $500,000 or more.
  • Actual earnings depend on the cases an associate originates and on fees actually collected.
  • These figures are illustrations, not guarantees.

Client origination

For qualifying associate-originated cases accepted by Banck Law, attorney fees actually earned and collected are allocated as follows:

  • Banck Law-funded case: 66 2/3% to Banck Law and 33 1/3% to the associate.
  • Associate-funded case: 50% to Banck Law and 50% to the associate, under an approved funding arrangement.

These percentages apply to attorney fees, not gross client recoveries. Terms, funding responsibilities, expense treatment, and payment timing will be documented in writing and administered in compliance with applicable Louisiana law and professional conduct rules.

Who We Are

Looking For

  • Juris Doctor degree and active Louisiana law license in good standing.
  • Newly admitted attorneys encouraged; prior personal injury experience is not required.
  • Strong writing, communication, judgment, and analytical skills.
  • Self-starter with initiative, professionalism, curiosity, and a willingness to take responsibility.
  • Genuine interest in litigation, injured clients, relationship-building, and developing a practice.

Our Mentorship Philosophy

We measure mentorship by the kind of attorney you become, not merely how long you stay. We hope the right associate builds a long career with Banck Law, perhaps as a senior attorney. If that lawyer eventually opens an independent practice, we will be proud to have helped prepare them.

Our goal is to develop confident, capable lawyers who know how to litigate, serve clients, and build a sustainable practice.

We are not looking for someone to carry another lawyer’s briefcase for five years. We want someone who wants to learn to carry their own.

How to Apply

Submit a résumé, a brief cover letter explaining your interest in personal injury litigation, and a legal writing sample.

Banck Law is an equal opportunity employer.
