**About us**

Bake More Pies is a full\-service digital agency in Tampa. We do branding, marketing, technology, video production through BMP Studio, and a fast\-growing AI practice.

Our AI Division builds real software for real businesses. That means voice and chat agents that sit on client websites, reporting platforms that pull data from a dozen sources every month, document automation that reads thousands of invoices, and computer vision on cellular cameras in the field. We also sell our own SaaS product.

The team is small, so the work you ship is the work clients use.

**The role**

We're hiring a full\-stack engineer who can take a client's messy problem, turn it into a Laravel app with AI at its core, put it into production, and keep it running. You'll own several client systems at once, from the first architecture sketch to the monthly support call.

In your first six months you will likely:

  • Take over a live property\-marketing reporting platform that pulls from CRMs, analytics, call tracking, and listing sites, then emails branded PDF reports to more than 150 properties every month.
  • Finish a computer vision system that reads fill levels from cellular cameras through FTP and alerts operations staff.
  • Improve an invoice\-matching pipeline that uses an LLM to read about 1,500 vendor invoices a month and match them to accounts.
  • Add features to a production quoting tool for a hurricane\-protection manufacturer.
  • Clean up and extend an ERP and CRM built on our internal Laravel platform.
  • Contribute to our voice and chat AI product, which runs on a real\-time speech model through a Node.js WebSocket layer.

You'll work daily with AI coding agents, and we expect you to be good at directing them and better at checking what they produce.

**What you'll do**

  • Build features in Laravel, Livewire, and Filament, starting from user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Integrate LLMs into production workflows: extraction, summaries, retrieval over a knowledge base, and real\-time voice.
  • Connect outside systems through REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks, FTP, and scrapers for sites that have no API.
  • Deploy and operate apps on Laravel Cloud and Forge, including queues, scheduled jobs, workers, DNS, and mail.
  • Write tests first for bug fixes, and keep the suite green before every merge.
  • Review AI\-generated code with care, and use automated review tools as a second check, not the only one.
  • Give written estimates before you start, track your time daily, and flag overruns the same day.
  • Keep docs current: a README, a runbook, and a short status note on every open task.
  • Handle secrets and client data safely: keys in environment config, least\-privilege access, and rotation when something leaks.
  • Demo work to clients, run QA sessions with them, and explain technical tradeoffs in plain language.
  • Join our daily scrum and help shape architecture with the VP of AI.

**What you need**

  • 3\+ years building and shipping PHP applications in production, with at least 2 years on Laravel (version 10 or later).
  • Hands\-on work with Livewire or Filament, plus Tailwind and Alpine.js.
  • At least one shipped feature that calls a hosted LLM API (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or similar), with error handling, retries, and cost controls.
  • Solid MySQL skills: schema design, migrations, and data backfills you can verify.
  • Experience with queues and scheduled jobs (Redis, Horizon, or similar).
  • Comfort with OAuth, webhooks, and third\-party APIs, including ones with poor documentation.
  • A testing habit with PHPUnit or Pest.
  • Experience deploying and debugging a Laravel app on your own (Laravel Cloud, Forge, or a VPS).
  • Daily use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, and a clear method for reviewing their output.
  • Clear written and spoken communication with non\-technical clients.
  • Ability to work in our Tampa office on hybrid days.

**Nice to have**

  • Node.js and WebSockets, especially real\-time audio or streaming APIs.
  • Python, OCR, or computer vision experience.
  • Retrieval\-augmented generation and vector search (Postgres with pgvector, or a hosted file search).
  • Experience with business systems such as QuickBooks Online, a CRM, Airtable, or a contact center platform.
  • Web scraping that holds up against JavaScript\-heavy sites and logins.
  • IoT, cellular devices, or 3D CAD for simple hardware enclosures.
  • Agency or consulting background with several clients at once.
  • Interest in leading client AI audits and discovery sessions.

**Hiring process**

A 30\-minute phone screen, a 60\-minute technical conversation, a short paid exercise, and a client demo role\-play. We aim to make a decision within three weeks of your first call.

**When you apply, include a short note about an AI feature you shipped: what it did, what broke, and how you fixed it. Links to code or a live demo help. **
