Applied AI Engineer

BajaTech is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to design, build, evaluate, and deploy AI solutions for business-critical applications. This role combines data science and machine learning with hands-on development of LLM applications, AI agents, and enterprise integrations in Microsoft Azure.

Location and engagement

Onsite work in Broomfield, Colorado, is preferred. The target start date is before the end of 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy machine learning models, LLM applications, and agentic workflows that address business needs.
• Build RAG pipelines using embeddings, semantic search, and vector databases.
• Integrate AI applications with enterprise APIs, databases, messaging systems, and business platforms.
• Implement tool calling, guardrails, validation, and human oversight for reliable agent behavior.
• Evaluate AI systems for accuracy, reliability, hallucinations, latency, cost, safety, and business effectiveness.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to deliver secure, scalable production solutions.

Core requirements

• Strong Python skills and experience with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Solid foundations in statistics, data preparation, feature engineering, experimentation, model validation, and ML deployment.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG, prompt/context engineering, structured outputs, and agent orchestration.
• Experience deploying AI solutions on Azure and integrating SQL databases, REST APIs, and messaging systems, with appropriate security and observability.
• Experience delivering AI, ML, analytics, or software solutions in manufacturing, consumer goods, supply chain, distribution, or related industries.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English, with strong technical and business communication skills.

Additional relevant experience

SAP-related systems or data, MLOps/LLMOps, Redis, AI evaluation frameworks, AI-assisted development tools, and applications in forecasting, quality, product configuration, or order management.
