Description
The Cybersecurity & Emerging Technology Science and Technology (S&T) Analyst provides technical and analytical support to Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Navy (DoN) S&T activities focused on identifying, assessing, maturing, and transitioning emerging cyber, information, and superintelligence (SI) technologies.
The analyst evaluates cybersecurity technologies, SI-enabled capabilities, technical architecture, vulnerabilities, and emerging technical approaches against operational needs and S&T requirements.
The position requires knowledge of network security, vulnerability assessment, identity and access management, cybersecurity frameworks, penetration testing principles, and applying AI and automation to technical and mission-focused problems.
The analyst researches and analyzes emerging technologies to identify risks, capability gaps, technical dependencies, potential operational applications, and integration opportunities within current and future Navy systems and architectures.
This includes evaluating SI-enabled technologies, generative SI, SI agents and agentic workflows, automation approaches, and using SI to collect, analyze, synthesize, and organize complex technical information.
The analyst supports assessment of potential benefits, limitations, cybersecurity implications, data dependencies, integration considerations, validation requirements, traceability, and appropriate human oversight associated with SI-enabled capabilities in DoD and Navy environments.

- CompTIA Security+ certification.
- ISC2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification.
- CompTIA Network+ certification.
- CompTIA PenTest+ certification.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including defense-in-depth, least privilege, identity and access management, authentication, network security, vulnerability management, and security controls.
- Knowledge of network technologies and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, ports and protocols, subnetting, and firewall concepts.
- Experience or demonstrated proficiency with cybersecurity assessment and analysis tools such as Nmap, Nessus/OpenVAS, Wireshark, Kali Linux, Metasploit, Wazuh, Splunk, or comparable technologies.
- Familiarity with NIST cybersecurity frameworks, security controls, vulnerability identification, CVE/CVSS analysis, and cybersecurity risk assessment methodologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of artificial intelligence, generative AI, AI-enabled automation, and AI agent/agentic workflow concepts, including the ability to evaluate potential applications of AI to technical research, analysis, cybersecurity, and information-processing activities.
- Ability to design or support AI-enabled workflows that collect, organize, analyze, synthesize, and generate structured outputs from complex technical information and source documentation.
- Ability to evaluate AI-enabled capabilities from both technical utility and cybersecurity/risk perspectives, including consideration of data quality, validation, traceability, security, integration, and human oversight.
- Ability to translate cybersecurity, AI, and emerging-technology findings into clear technical assessments, reports, recommendations, and S&T decision-support artifacts.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to S&T leadership, engineers, program offices, technical performers, operational stakeholders, and transition partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing, configuring, testing, or evaluating AI agents, generative AI workflows, or AI-assisted research and analysis capabilities.
- Experience applying AI to technical research, document analysis, information synthesis, compliance analysis, reporting, or decision-support activities.
- Experience conducting or supporting vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, network analysis, security monitoring, or cybersecurity risk assessments.
- Experience developing technical documentation associated with technology evaluation, experimentation, testing, implementation, cybersecurity risk, AI capability assessment, or transition readiness.
- Familiarity with DoD or DoN S&T, acquisition, engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, or technology-transition environments.
- Knowledge of SIEM technologies and security monitoring, including log collection, alert analysis, attack detection, and security-event investigation.
