About this role
About the Firm
For more than thirty years, The Attorneys For Freedom Law Firm has represented clients in self-defense cases, including homicide and aggravated assault matters. Through Attorneys On Retainer, the firm gives responsible gun owners access to law firm-backed self-defense legal protection before they ever need it.
We are a firm of advocates committed to the principles of a free society. We hold our marketing to the same standard as our legal work: it must be accurate, credible and worthy of the clients we serve.
The Role
The Video Editor & Motion Designer turns footage, scripts and ideas into video that performs in market: paid ads, short-form social content and animated explainers.
This is a marketing role. Your work will be judged on craft and on results: how fast it earns attention, how long it holds it, and whether it moves people to act.
You will work with the Creative Director, a Brand Content Manager who writes scripts and social copy, a graphic designer, and a Video Producer who runs the studio, filming and long-form editing. Footage comes to you. Your job is to make it work.
This role requires daily, hands-on use of generative AI tools. We expect you to use AI to edit faster, produce more variations and solve problems that once took a larger team, without any compromise in accuracy, brand standards or legal compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Paid Video Ads
- Edit video ads for Meta, YouTube and Google Performance Max from raw footage, stock and motion assets.
- Build multiple hook, length and format variations of each concept for testing.
- Deliver every ad to platform specs, including aspect ratios, safe zones, durations, captions and file requirements.
- Review ad performance with the Creative Director and use the data to shape the next round of edits.
Short-Form Social
- Cut Reels, Shorts and TikTok content from long-form videos, podcasts, livestreams and original footage.
- Edit for retention: a strong first three seconds, tight pacing and a clear payoff.
- Design on-screen text and captions that work with the sound off.
- Deliver finished clips to the Brand Content Manager on schedule for publishing.
Motion Graphics and Explainers
- Design and animate explainers that make legal concepts clear to a general audience.
- Build and maintain a library of branded motion templates, including titles, lower thirds, transitions, caption styles and end cards.
- Apply the firm's brand system with precision, including typography, color, logo use and motion standards.
- Animate data, processes and comparisons so a viewer understands them in seconds.
AI-Enabled Production
- Use AI tools daily across editing, transcription, captioning, voice, audio cleanup, upscaling, image and video generation, and rough-cut assembly.
- Track new AI video tools and recommend the ones that measurably improve speed or quality.
- Follow firm standards on AI use in public-facing work, and verify every AI-assisted output before delivery.
Light Capture
- Capture simple b-roll, screen recordings and phone footage when a project calls for it. The Video Producer handles all major shoots.
Quality and Workflow
- Proofread every frame, including names, spellings, legal terms, on-screen claims and captions.
- Manage files, versions and deadlines in the firm's project management system.
- Take projects from brief to final export with minimal revision rounds.
What Success Looks Like
Within 90 days
- Full command of the firm's brand system, motion standards, compliance requirements and approval process.
- A steady weekly flow of paid ad variations and short-form clips, delivered on time and to spec.
- A branded motion template library built and in daily use.
Within the first year
- A tested library of ad creative, with clear winners shaping future concepts.
- Short-form clips released consistently from every major long-form video.
- Measurable gains in hook rate, watch time, click-through rate and leads generated from video.
How We
Work
This is a highly collaborative role. Your work will be reviewed closely, and you will receive frequent, direct feedback from the Creative Director and firm leadership. We value people who welcome that feedback, ask thoughtful questions and treat every revision as a chance to strengthen the work.
Professionalism, composure and respect for colleagues are expectations of this role, not preferences.

- Strong motion design skills, including type animation, keyframing, easing, compositing and template building.
- Daily, hands-on use of AI video and audio tools (such as Adobe Firefly, Runway, ElevenLabs, Descript or Topaz) in a production workflow, with the judgment to know when AI output is not good enough.
- Working knowledge of what makes short-form and paid video perform, including hooks, retention, pacing, captions and platform specs.
- Meticulous attention to detail across spelling, names, facts and on-screen text.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage many deliverables and versions at once.
- The ability to receive direct, candid feedback professionally and apply it promptly, without defensiveness.
