About this role

Job Summary

Atlas Holdings is seeking an experienced, organized, and solutions-oriented Human Resources Manager to oversee and coordinate human resources operations and act as an accessible resource for employees and managers across multiple business entities.

The HR Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining consistent human resources policies, managing employee relations, overseeing benefits and payroll administration, supporting recruitment and retention, ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws, and establishing scalable HR processes to support continued organizational growth.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of managing day-to-day HR operations while building the systems, policies, and practices needed to support a growing, multi-company organization. Experience supporting laboratory, manufacturing, or other regulated business environments is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Multi-Company HR Management: Oversee human resources operations across all companies under Atlas Holdings, ensuring consistent policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and employment practices while addressing the unique needs of each entity.
  • Employee Relations and Management Support: Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and managers. Address workplace concerns, advise on performance management and disciplinary actions, conduct or coordinate confidential investigations, and support conflict resolution and employee retention.
  • Recruitment, Hiring, and Onboarding: Manage the full recruitment process, including job descriptions, job postings, candidate screening, interviews, reference and background checks, offer letters, onboarding, and offboarding. Partner with department leaders to identify staffing needs and workforce priorities.
  • Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation: Oversee payroll coordination, timekeeping accuracy, employee deductions, and compensation changes. Administer employee benefits, coordinate open enrollment, manage vendor relationships, and assist leadership with salary reviews and compensation benchmarking.
  • Leave Administration and Workers’ Compensation: Manage PTO, sick leave, attendance, FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other applicable leave requirements. Coordinate workers’ compensation claims, workplace injury documentation, and return-to-work processes while maintaining confidential records.
  • Employment Law and Regulatory Compliance: Monitor compliance with applicable federal and South Carolina employment laws. Maintain required employment documentation, coordinate audits and reporting, ensure appropriate workplace policies and notices are in place, and work with legal counsel on complex employment matters.
  • Performance Management and Training: Coordinate performance reviews, goal-setting, performance improvement plans, new-hire orientation, management training, and employee development. Partner with operational leaders to ensure employees complete applicable safety, quality, and compliance training.
  • HR Systems and Records Management: Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files, oversee HRIS, applicant tracking, and timekeeping systems, and develop workforce reports covering headcount, turnover, recruiting, attendance, and other key HR metrics.
  • Strategic Planning and Organizational Development: Partner with executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational structure, employee engagement, retention strategies, and the integration of new companies or departments. Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, improve efficiency, and support continued business growth.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Evaluate HR vendors and service providers, support policy and handbook revisions, maintain appropriate documentation and internal controls, and perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned by executive leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 2-5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including broad HR generalist responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, payroll coordination, leave administration, and employment compliance.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and South Carolina employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience maintaining confidential personnel records and handling sensitive employee matters.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, and experience with HRIS, payroll, or timekeeping systems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain discretion, manage competing priorities, and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing HR functions across multiple companies, locations, departments, or business entities.
  • Professional HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
  • Experience with employee handbook development, HR policy implementation, and organizational growth.
  • Experience coordinating benefits renewals, compensation benchmarking, and payroll or HR system implementations.
  • Experience supporting workplace investigations, employment claims, audits, and complex employee relations matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to build efficient HR processes and improve consistency across a growing organization.
