We are offering a salary range, based on the candidate meeting the position requirements, of:

  • Level 0: $115,000 - $125,000
  • Level 1: $171,000 - $181,000
  • Level 2: $194,000 - $204,000
  • Level 3: $232,000 - $242,000

Employees are also eligible for a

$1,200 annual corporate compliance bonus

for time and attendance compliance. In addition, candidates are eligible for either a

$10,000 sign-on bonus or up to $5,000 in relocation cost reimbursement

.

Position Description

The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems, based upon documented requirements. Works individually or as part of a team.

Reviews and tests software components for adherence to design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.

Provides specific input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from the system level to individual software components.

Level 0

  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
  • Debug existing software and correct defects
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
  • Make recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards

Level 1

  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
  • Write or review software and system documentation
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes, and investigating problem areas
  • Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on a particular project
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries

Level 2

  • Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used
  • Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints
  • Perform quality control on team products
  • Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards

Level 3

  • Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams
  • Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects
  • Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software
  • Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performance

Required Experience And Qualifications

  • TS/SCI with a Polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university

+ Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree

  • Experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity at the applicable level
  • Level 0 (Java/Data Ingestion) Requirements Include:

+ Four (4) to seven (7) years of Java experience

+ Experience supporting Java software development

+ Ability to support complex data ingestion from various data sources and data types

+ Ability to contribute to a small, mission-focused project resolving difficult data ingestion challenges involving a variety of sources and data types

  • Level 0 (Java/React JS/SQL/AI Integration) Requirements Include:

+ Two (2) to seven (7) years of experience

+ Experience with Java, React JS, and SQL

+ Ability to support the integration of AI-driven solutions into software applications

+ Ability to use AI-driven solutions to improve system efficiency, streamline workflows, and automate key application processes

  • Level 2 (Java/JavaScript/React JS/Go) Requirements Include:

+ Fourteen (14) or more years of software development experience

+ Experience with a combination of Java, JavaScript, React JS, and Go

  • Level 3 (Splunk/Big Data) Requirements Include:

+ Nineteen (19) or more years of software development experience

+ Experience supporting software development involving large or complex data sets

Desired Experience And Qualifications

  • Level 0 (Java/Data Ingestion):

+ Experience or exposure to signals analysis and/or Digital Signal Processing (DSP)

  • Level 0 (Java/React JS/SQL/AI Integration):

+ Experience integrating AI-driven solutions into software applications

+ Experience leveraging AI to improve system efficiency, streamline workflows, and automate application processes

  • Level 2 (Java/JavaScript/React JS/Go):

+ Experience with Public Key Infrastructure/Public Key Enablement (PKI/PKE)

+ Experience with data encryption, including Full Disc encryption

  • Level 3 (Splunk/Big Data):

+ Splunk experience is strongly preferred

+ Experience with other big data technologies may be considered in lieu of Splunk experience

+ Additional relevant technologies may include:

  • Spring and JavaScript
  • JSP and servlet programming
  • JEE and enterprise web application design and development
  • Apache Tomcat
  • JavaScript presentation libraries such as JQuery, Angular, and extJS

Requirements

Onsite Position Requirements -

This position requires regular onsite work at a government/customer facility. The employee must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:
