Position: Freelance FP&A Consultant

Location: Los Angeles, California

Engagement: Freelance/consulting basis, starting at approximately 10 hours per week

Candidate requirement: Candidates must currently be based in Los Angeles, California.

Key Responsibilities

• Review monthly financial statements, operating expenses, and financial performance. Analyze revenue, gross margin, and profitability by product, customer, sales channel, and business area. Identify cost drivers and investigate areas where costs are increasing or profit margins are declining. Review labor, production, materials, freight, overhead, and other operating expenses to identify savings opportunities. Build and maintain budgets, financial models, and cash flow forecasts. Compare actual financial results against budgets and forecasts, then explain material variances. Develop clear financial reports and dashboards for leadership, with practical insights and recommendations. Help leadership understand which parts of the business are profitable and where operational or financial changes may be needed. Support pricing, spending, purchasing, and investment decisions with financial analysis. Recommend realistic actions to improve profitability, control expenses, and support sustainable business growth. Work collaboratively with leadership and internal departments to gather information needed for analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven experience in FP&A, corporate finance, financial consulting, or financial analysis. Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, profitability analysis, and expense analysis. Advanced Excel skills and the ability to build and maintain financial models. Experience working with financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ability to turn detailed financial data into clear recommendations for non-finance leaders. Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently. Experience supporting a growing small to mid-sized business is strongly preferred. Experience with inventory, product margins, manufacturing, apparel, wholesale, or consumer goods is a plus.

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
