About this role

About Apollo Interactive

Apollo Interactive is a performance-driven digital marketing company specializing in customer acquisition and lead generation across the insurance, mortgage, home services, and other consumer-focused industries. Through a variety of digital advertising channels, proprietary technologies, and strategic partnerships, we connect consumers with businesses offering products and services that meet their needs.

Our business operates in a fast-paced, highly competitive, and constantly evolving regulatory environment. We pride ourselves on being entrepreneurial, adaptable, and results-oriented while maintaining a strong commitment to responsible marketing practices and regulatory compliance.

Position Overview

Apollo Interactive is seeking a talented, proactive, and commercially minded In-House Compliance Attorney to join our team in El Segundo, California.

This individual will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams within our Lead Generation division to oversee legal and regulatory compliance across our digital marketing operations, advertising campaigns, consumer-facing websites, lead generation practices, and third-party partnerships.

The ideal candidate will combine strong legal and regulatory knowledge with a practical understanding of business operations. Rather than simply identifying potential risks, this individual will be expected to develop actionable, business-friendly solutions that protect the company while supporting innovation, operational efficiency, and continued growth.

This is a hands-on position requiring sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment. The successful candidate will be comfortable navigating complex regulatory issues, making timely recommendations, and collaborating directly with leadership, marketing, technology, operations, and business development teams.

The position offers a unique opportunity to have a meaningful impact on business strategy, help shape compliance policies and procedures, and work alongside an experienced and entrepreneurial management team.

  • Oversee compliance with applicable requirements under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), CAN-SPAM Act, FTC advertising regulations, state consumer protection laws, and privacy legislation, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
  • Provide guidance on industry-specific marketing requirements, including CMS Medicare marketing rules, insurance advertising regulations, and applicable mortgage and financial services marketing requirements.
  • Evaluate potential compliance risks associated with new marketing initiatives, traffic sources, products, technologies, and business partnerships.
  • Develop practical strategies to mitigate legal exposure while preserving business opportunities and operational flexibility.

Advertising, Website &

Lead Generation Compliance

  • Review and approve consumer-facing websites, landing pages, advertisements, advertorials, email campaigns, SMS campaigns, and other marketing materials for regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate advertising claims, disclosures, consent language, privacy notices, and lead generation forms to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Advise on consumer consent collection, documentation, retention, and revocation processes, particularly as they relate to telephone calls, text messaging, and lead transfers.
  • Partner with marketing, product, and technology teams to implement necessary changes to websites, advertising materials, lead forms, and internal systems.
  • Review marketing practices across paid search, social media, display, native advertising, email, affiliate marketing, and other customer acquisition channels.
  • Assess compliance risks associated with third-party publishers, affiliates, lead vendors, and traffic partners, including the quality and validity of consumer consent and advertising representations.
  • Help establish and maintain consistent compliance standards across Apollo's portfolio of websites, marketing campaigns, and lead generation products.

Risk Management & Compliance Operations

  • Design and maintain effective compliance risk assessment, monitoring, testing, documentation, and reporting processes.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and develop corrective action plans to address identified risks.
  • Establish and maintain internal compliance policies, standard operating procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor consumer complaints, identify recurring trends, coordinate investigations, and recommend appropriate resolutions and preventive measures.
  • Assist in reviewing third-party contracts, marketing agreements, vendor arrangements, and client compliance requirements.
  • Evaluate compliance obligations associated with new client relationships, contractual commitments, and evolving business models.
  • Maintain appropriate records of compliance reviews, approvals, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and report on relevant compliance metrics, emerging risks, and recommended improvements to senior management.

Regulatory Matters & External Counsel

  • Serve as a primary internal resource for compliance-related inquiries, consumer complaints, regulatory requests, and potential legal disputes.
  • Coordinate with and manage outside legal counsel on regulatory, compliance, litigation, and other legal matters as appropriate.
  • Support regulatory audits, examinations, investigations, and information requests from government agencies, industry regulators, clients, and business partners.
  • Assist with preparing responses to regulatory inquiries, demand letters, complaints, and other legal correspondence.
  • Work with outside counsel and senior management to evaluate potential legal exposure and determine appropriate courses of action.
  • Track regulatory developments, litigation trends, and enforcement actions affecting the digital marketing and lead generation industries.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Training

  • Serve as a trusted legal and compliance advisor to senior management and internal business stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing, account management, business development, operations, and technology teams to integrate compliance considerations into everyday business decisions.
  • Develop and deliver employee training on relevant laws, regulations, company policies, and compliance best practices.
  • Establish processes to document employee training, policy acknowledgments, and other compliance-related requirements.
  • Communicate complex legal and regulatory concepts in a clear, concise, and actionable manner to non-legal audiences.
  • Promote a company-wide culture of compliance without creating unnecessary obstacles to business execution.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve internal processes, reduce risk, and increase operational efficiency.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex regulations and translate legal requirements into practical business recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with executives and non-legal business teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing demands and time-sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of projects from initial assessment through resolution.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where priorities and business needs can change quickly.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and related business productivity tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience serving as in-house counsel or in a legal/compliance role supporting a digital marketing, lead generation, advertising technology, or performance marketing company.
