Description

American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an Adult Rehab Services unit, requiring acute and trauma experience along with current state licensure and BLS certification.

Details

  • Acute and trauma rehabilitation setting within an Adult Rehab Services department
  • Day shift schedule, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week
  • Caseload of approximately 11-12 patients per day with a goal of treating 8 patients per shift
  • Department staffs 15-16 OT/COTA professionals to meet high patient demands

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required
  • Current license from the state board required, if applicable
  • Current BLS certification from AHA required upon hire
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience required
  • Acute and trauma experience required
  • Critical care experience preferred
  • Knowledge of occupational therapy principles, practices, and materials
  • Skill in organizing and instructing therapy activities
  • Ability to interpret physician prescriptions related to therapy needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff and patients
  • Basic computer skills required

Additional Information

  • Perform professional Occupational Therapy activities including planning, evaluating, and implementing individual and group treatment plans under physician direction
  • Interpret physician referrals and select appropriate standardized evaluation procedures
  • Evaluate patients across areas including independent living skills, occupational performance, prevocational work adjustment, educational skills, and psychosocial skills
  • Develop treatment plans with short and long term goals, frequency, and duration
  • Design and fabricate adaptive equipment and orthotic devices as needed
  • Communicate goals and progress to patients and families
  • Assist with discharge planning including equipment ordering and home therapy instruction
  • May supervise students
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Full date of birth and Social Security number required for consideration
  • Returning workers may extend an assignment one time up to 26 weeks total, with a 6-month separation required before reapplying
  • Facility enforces strict credentialing and compliance deadlines with no start date flexibility
  • 30-day written notice required to cancel or end an assignment early
