Why AFC Urgent Care?

Join a locally owned and operated AFC Urgent Care team dedicated to providing high-quality occupational healthcare. As part of a nationally recognized urgent care network, we offer a supportive environment where you can make a meaningful difference in employee health and workplace safety.

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced, independent RN to provide onsite occupational health services at employer locations in Greater Portland and southern Maine. You'll assess and triage workplace injuries, provide first aid, promote injury prevention, and support employee wellness through health coaching and education.

This is a unique opportunity to use your clinical skills outside a traditional healthcare setting while helping employees stay healthy, safe, and productive.

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Monday–Friday schedule — no weekends!
  • Part-time with potential to grow into full-time.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Independent nursing role with clinical support from AFC's medical team.
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on employee health and workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite first aid, triage, and care for minor illnesses and injuries within established nursing protocols and scope of practice.
  • Coordinate employee care, referrals, and follow-up with AFC Urgent Care and other occupational medicine providers.
  • Develop and implement injury prevention, ergonomic, stretching, and workplace wellness programs.
  • Conduct workplace assessments and educate employees on safe work practices, injury prevention, and physical conditioning.
  • Support workers' compensation case management, return-to-work planning, and fitness-for-duty evaluations.
  • Perform employee health screenings, including blood pressure checks, biometric assessments, and wellness coaching.
  • Assist with occupational health services, including drug testing, audiograms, vision screenings, and pre-employment exams, as authorized.
  • Collaborate with client safety, HR, and management teams while maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, OSHA-related documentation, and clinic reporting.
  • Participate in workplace emergency response planning, drills, and training.
  • Manage onsite clinic supplies, daily workflow, and communication with AFC's Occupational Health Director.
  • Promote employee engagement, health education, and a positive client experience.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

  • Part-time at 16-24 hours weekly, potential opportunity to grow into full-time
  • Primarily day shifts between 8:00am-4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in Maine; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in urgent care, emergency medicine, occupational health, or a related setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment, triage, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently without onsite provider supervision.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a professional, patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and respond confidently to workplace medical situations.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer systems.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) designation.
  • Experience in occupational medicine, employee health, or workplace injury management.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, ergonomics, and injury prevention.
  • Experience with drug testing, audiometric testing, and employee health screenings.
  • Experience with workplace wellness programs, health coaching, or employee education.
