About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with entrepreneurial, action- and results-oriented professionals. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and helping them reach their potential. A&M is different by design: we give people ownership and impact from day one, fuel development through real opportunity, and provide direct access to leaders who invest in our growth.

Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact clients and shape our industry. Guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity, our collaborative, globally minded environment is why our people love working at A&M.

The Team

Microsoft Enterprise Solutions sits within the IT Engineering group of A&M's Corporate Information Technology organization. The team implements, operates, and evolves the firm's Microsoft enterprise platforms, AI technologies, and the platforms and tools integrated with them.

This includes governance, administration, licensing, and lifecycle management across collaboration platforms and AI environments, keeping solutions secure, compliant, and scalable.

The team works with other global corporate teams such as IT Asset Management, IT Licensing, CTO Operations, the Office of the CIO, infrastructure and engineering teams, business stakeholders, and vendors across governance, platform operations, and AI enablement.

As Support Engineer, Software Asset Management, Microsoft Enterprise Solutions, you will provide hands-on business-as-usual operational, analytical, reporting, reconciliation, and automation support for the firm's large and complex licensing portfolio spanning multiple agreement types.

You will keep source data accurate, answer stakeholder licensing questions, perform detailed license and invoice analysis, support renewals and transfers, coordinate with partners, vendors, and internal teams, work closely with the Manager, Governance and the Manager, AI & Automation, and build repeatable reporting and automation.

Your work will give the Director, Microsoft Enterprise Solutions, complete, traceable, source-backed analysis for licensing and commercial decisions.

How you will contribute

Licensing guidance and support

  • Serve as a first point of contact and L3 support for stakeholder licensing questions, including which licenses enable features in Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Copilot, and Copilot Studio.
  • Research licensing requirements against Microsoft product terms, apply guidance from the Manager, Governance and the Manager, AI & Automation, and escalate cost, commercial, or exception questions to the Director.
  • Route license fulfillment requests to IT Asset Management and IT Licensing through ServiceNow and track them to closure.
  • Build and maintain ServiceNow knowledge articles and FAQs that answer recurring licensing questions.

Licensing operations

  • Maintain accurate, source-backed records of Microsoft agreements, subscriptions, entitlements, renewal dates, and the license position.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation for Microsoft licensing reviews.
  • Monitor Microsoft licensing changes and notifications, summarize impacts with IT Asset Management and IT Licensing, and support related change communications.

Commercial and vendor support

  • Support renewals, transfers, and purchase-order requests by preparing documentation and comparing quote, subscription, and billing details.
  • Coordinate operational follow-up with Microsoft, resellers, procurement, and Finance, and prepare analysis and supporting materials for licensing and commercial decisions.

Reconciliation, reporting, and automation

  • + Partner with teams to reconcile invoices, assignments, and subscription records using exact source values, and support chargeback, reclassification, and true-up analysis.
  • + Identify and quantify optimization opportunities, such as unused licenses and reclamation candidates.
  • + Produce recurring licensing, consumption, storage, and commercial reports, including Copilot license and usage reporting with the Manager, AI & Automation.
  • + Build and maintain approved scripts, workflows, and dashboards that reduce manual reporting and reconciliation, tested against primary sources.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software asset management, Microsoft licensing operations, procurement analytics, finance operations, or technology commercial management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Copilot, Power Platform, and Azure licensing, and of Enterprise Agreement, MCA-E, CSP, reservations, and true-up.
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills, including exact reconciliation and data lineage.
  • Experience coordinating with vendors, procurement, Finance, IT Asset Management, IT Licensing, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication, including explaining licensing clearly to non-technical stakeholders and escalating gaps and exceptions.

Preferred

  • Experience with Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, Flexera, or comparable software asset management tools.
