Part-Time Social Media Manager

About us

AJ Residence supports people with developmental disabilities in Richmond and Northern Virginia through group homes, a day program, community engagement and coaching, and a children's program for ages 6 to 17. We have amazing people, great stories, and a camera roll full of good moments. We need someone to help us share them.

What you'll do

• Plan and post 3 to 4 times a week on Facebook and Instagram, about once a week on LinkedIn, and keep our Google Business listings updated
• Turn the photos and videos our staff take into posts, short videos, and Stories
• Write short, warm captions in plain language
• Check our media consent log before every post, and follow our privacy rules every time
• Reply to comments and messages within one business day, and pass referral and job questions to the right person
• Visit the programs a few times a month to take photos and get to know the people and staff, and collect photos each week from the program managers in our group homes in Woodbridge, Dumfries, and Richmond
• Ask happy families and partners for Google reviews, and keep track of them
• Send a short report each month on what's working

What you'll bring

• At least 1 year of experience running social media for a business, nonprofit, school, or church. A personal portfolio counts.
• Comfortable with Canva or a similar design tool, and basic video editing on a phone (CapCut or similar)
• Experience with a scheduling tool like Buffer, Meta Business Suite, or Later
• Good judgment about privacy and dignity. You'll be posting about people with disabilities and children, and getting that right matters more than going viral.
• Reliable and organized. You can keep a schedule without being reminded.
• Nice to have: experience in healthcare, human services, disability services, or education

Requirements

• Must pass a background check, including the checks required for working around the people we support
• Must complete our privacy and human rights training before posting
• Must sign a confidentiality agreement
• Reliable transportation for program visits
