Staff Accountant

AMT is an ISO 9001 certified precision machine shop located in the Des Moines area. We provide milling, turning, waterjet cutting, and fabrication services. We are open 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs), in 10 hour shifts.

This position is for first shift (6am-4:30pm).

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant who will create and maintain accounting systems that ensure accuracy of financials and run the front office. This will require a large amount of ownership of the accounting systems.

As Subject Matter Expert (SME) on accounting, this person will perform all accounting functions and interact with the manufacturing software as it relates and integrates with the account systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Vendor Invoicing: Receive, input and manage all vendor invoices. Assure said invoice match the internal systems and reconcile any discrepancies. Perform vendor payments and apply to vendor invoices.
• Customer Invoicing: Integrate JobBoss software to create customer invoices. Apply payments to said customer invoices and reconcile any discrepancies. Follow up with customers on late payments.
• Customer Purchase Orders: Review Purchase Orders to determine if parts need quotation. Enter all approved orders into JobBoss software and send customers acknowledgment.
• Email review: Review accounting email and follow up on customer / vendor queries.
• Receptionist duties: Answers telephone and greets visitors. Retrieve daily mail.
• Report Creation: Create and distribute various reports for customers and departments.
• JobBoss Management: Assure correct completion of jobs within the JobBoss software for proper costing and invoicing.
• Month End Reports: Process month end reports for closing process.

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounting functions including financial statements, A/R, A/P, Costing, G/L entries, reconciliation, etc.
• Education: Requires bachelor's degree or 2-year accounting degree. Will consider substantial experience in lieu of degree.
• Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in Quickbooks within a manufacturing environment. Good background in costing, inventory and financial statements.

Software

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
