About this role

Job Summary

Adams Multimedia, a national multimedia organization, is seeking an energetic, results-driven Sales Manager in Southern Wisconsin.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Sales, this position has full responsibility for the office’s revenue performance, digital growth, sales execution, and development of an experienced team of outside Account Executives.

This is not a desk-management position. It is a true player-coach role.

The Sales Manager will lead from the front—coaching the team, setting expectations, inspecting activity, removing obstacles, and holding sellers accountable while also carrying a personal sales responsibility. You will prospect for new business, conduct discovery meetings, develop strategic multimedia solutions, present proposals, negotiate, and close business alongside your team.

We believe the most effective sales leaders have credibility because they can demonstrate the behaviors they expect from others.

That means being active in the market, building relationships, creating opportunities, and producing revenue yourself.

Just as importantly, this role requires a manager who knows the business behind the numbers.

You should know, at any point in the month:

  • Where every Account Executive stands against goal.
  • What is in each seller’s pipeline.
  • How much new-business activity is taking place.
  • Which proposals are outstanding.
  • Which opportunities are likely to close.
  • Where deals are stalled.
  • Where additional coaching, urgency, or intervention is needed.

Successful candidates will be highly organized, deadline-driven, analytical, and comfortable working at a detailed level. You must be willing to dig deeply into individual sales activity, identify performance gaps early, coach to specific behaviors, and take decisive action to keep both individual sellers and the overall office on pace to achieve goal.

You should also have a strong understanding of today’s digital marketing landscape and be comfortable using data, analytics, CRM tools, pipeline metrics, and campaign performance to drive better decisions.

High energy, personal accountability, strong follow-through, sound judgment, competitive drive, and a consistent record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals are essential.

On-target earnings range from $75,000 to $100,000+, combining base salary, monthly performance bonuses, and commission on every dollar of personal sales.

This is an in-office leadership position and is not remote or hybrid.

Player-Coach Leadership

Lead by example as both a sales manager and an active seller. Maintain a meaningful personal presence in the market and consistently demonstrate the prospecting, discovery, proposal, follow-up, negotiation, and closing behaviors expected from the team.

Own the Number

Take direct responsibility for the office’s total revenue and digital sales goals. Monitor pacing throughout the month, identify potential shortfalls early, and create specific action plans to close gaps before they become missed goals.

Drive Sales Activity

Maintain detailed visibility into every Account Executive’s activity, pipeline, discovery meetings, proposals, pending opportunities, closes, account development, and new-business efforts.

Manage with facts, not assumptions.

Use activity and pipeline data to determine what is working, where performance is breaking down, and what each salesperson must do differently to achieve goal.

Coach for Performance

Conduct meaningful one-on-one coaching sessions, pipeline reviews, field coaching, and performance discussions.

Identify individual strengths and development areas, establish clear expectations, coach to specific behaviors, follow up on commitments, and create accountability for execution and results.

Build and Manage the Pipeline

Create a culture in which prospecting and new-business development are constant priorities. Ensure the team maintains a healthy pipeline and sufficient activity to support future revenue goals—not simply the current month.

Forecast Accurately

Develop reliable monthly projections, budgets, and revenue forecasts. Understand the likelihood, timing, and value of opportunities within the pipeline and adjust strategy quickly when results or market conditions change.

Stay Organized and Hit Deadlines

Maintain disciplined systems for priorities, follow-up, reporting, campaign deadlines, special initiatives, internal deliverables, and customer commitments.

This role requires exceptional organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities without allowing important details or deadlines to slip.

Lead Digital and Multimedia Growth

Coach Account Executives to think beyond single-product selling and build strategic, integrated campaigns around client objectives.

Solutions may include digital advertising, search, social media, video, email marketing, print, custom content, audience targeting, and other company products.

Develop New Business

Personally prospect and open doors with new advertisers while helping Account Executives strengthen their own new-business development efforts.

Use networking, referrals, market research, prospecting tools, community involvement, and direct outreach to identify opportunities.

Strengthen Community Relationships

Build strong relationships throughout the local business community, increase awareness of our products and services, and represent the company as an engaged and visible market leader.

Build a Strong Local Network

Actively participate in appropriate business, civic, networking, and volunteer organizations to develop relationships, uncover opportunities, and strengthen the company’s presence in Dane County.

Minimum Qualifications

Proven Sales Leadership

At least three years of sales experience and a minimum of three years in a sales leadership role, with demonstrated responsibility for team performance, revenue growth, and achieving sales goals.

Player-Coach Mentality

A demonstrated willingness and ability to personally sell while leading others.

The successful candidate must be comfortable prospecting, initiating conversations with new businesses, conducting face-to-face sales calls, completing discovery, building proposals, presenting solutions, negotiating, and closing business.

Strong Performance Management Skills

Proven ability to use activity data, pipeline metrics, forecasting, account plans, and individual performance results to coach effectively and move a team toward goal.

Exceptional Organization and Follow-Through

Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, maintain accurate reporting, follow through on commitments, and create systems that keep both the manager and the sales team organized.

Digital Marketing Knowledge

Strong understanding of modern digital marketing solutions and the ability to help sellers build integrated campaigns based on a client’s goals, target audience, challenges, and measurable business outcomes.

Technical Proficiency

Proficiency with Excel and Google Workspace, along with the ability to quickly learn, use, and teach CRM, proposal, analytics, prospecting, and other sales technology platforms.

Strong Leadership and Communication

Ability to establish clear expectations, communicate directly, coach constructively, create accountability, inspire strong performance, and build a positive, competitive, results-driven sales culture.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary.
  • Monthly performance bonus opportunity.
  • Commission on personal sales.
  • On-target earnings of $75,000 to $100,000+.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Paid volunteer and personal leave days.
  • 401(k).
  • Company-sponsored benefits.
  • Company-paid business expenses, including mileage, phone, approved entertainment, and local networking organization memberships.

Equal Opportunity

Employer

We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
